The role
As Chief Engineer in Electronic Warfare and Tactical Communications, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll ensure our solutions, designs, and bids are technically sound, safe, and compliant, providing the leadership and oversight needed to deliver excellence across the business.
You’ll work on exciting opportunities, from delivering innovative Electronic Warfare systems to key customers to supporting critical technology refreshes that keep these systems at the forefront of capability, your work will be vital in driving cutting-edge advancements. Day-to-day, you’ll provide technical leadership and independent oversight to the Land CEMA and Tactical Communications engineering teams, ensuring that bespoke engineering solutions meet customer requirements. Acting as the Independent Technical Authority, you’ll oversee the governance of technical output, ensuring compliance through design reviews and independent deliverable assessments. You’ll also:
Represent Babcock in external meetings, supporting bids and business development activities. Ensure technical risks and issues are effectively managed and mitigated.
This role is full time, 37 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 2 days in the office/onsite and 3 days working from home.
Essential experience of the Chief Engineer – Land Electronic Warfare and Tactical Communications
Proven experience as a technical leader delivering projects within the Electronic Warfare and Tactical Communications domain, ideally from requirements capture to delivery. In-depth knowledge and experience with Communications and Electronic Warfare systems. Demonstrated ability to oversee technical work, including approving designs and managing new design developments.
Qualifications for the Chief Engineer – Land Electronic Warfare and Tactical Communications
A formal engineering qualification (e.g., HND, Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree) with chartership from an engineering institution being highly desirable.
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be UK Sole National and able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
