Hyatt House Kuala Lumpur, Mont Kiara- will mark the first Hyatt House hotel in Malaysia and South East Asia. Located in Mont’ Kiara, an affluent suburb located five kilometers from downtown KualaLumpur, the hotel will feature approximately 298 guestrooms, a three-meal restaurant, 3,100 square feet of meeting space, a fitness centre, and a sky pool. Scheduled to open in late 2017, the hotel will be part of a larger mixed use development, Arcoris Mont’ Kiara, which will feature business suites, small home offices (“SoHo”), residential units, and a retail plaza.

We are currently looking for an experienced Chief Engineer- Engineering to lead and be responsible of the Engineering and Safety Security department.

This position reports to the hotel General Manager.

We are looking for a person who will embrace this property and care for it so that it will be at its best at all times. A person with immense energy and passion to ensure the hotel operates at its maximum efficiency and pace.

The Chief Engineer is responsible for leading a team and maintaining all equipment, systems, and building components including, but not limited to, mechanical and electrical systems, pumps, HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, locks, furniture, paint, wall coverings, tile, information technology and to be the liaison between facility and service contractors for on-property needs.

The person is also in charge of maintaining all equipment in guest rooms, conducting monthly safety inspections and training the staff on safety and emergency procedures, and working with vendors. The Chief Engineer must be willing to respond to emergencies, and work with corporate maintenance on special remodeling projects or capital expenditure needs.

In times of need, the Chief Engineer needs to be the primary manager available at unique times of day to handle unexpected emergencies and property malfunctions that affect guests and/or associates.

An individual with a spirit of determination, drive and desire to complete tasks in an efficient and speedy manner, you will be confident and driven in your approach. You are technically savvy and are known for your ability to communicate and negotiate at all levels, have a strong eye for detail and must be able to constantly maintain high service standards and problem-solve with employees and guests. Must be able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment and be constantly hands on and ready to lend expertise within other departments of the hotel.

Previous hotel pre-opening experience in engineering and building operations, will be a significant added advantage and requirement for this role.Possess a Degree or Diploma in Engineering studies or technical disciplinesA minimum of 5 years or more work experience in a senior role within an international chain hotel engineering department and have led a team of engineering associates.Demonstrate the ability to effectively interact with people of diverse socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgroundsFluent in written and spoken English and Bahasa Malaysia. The ability to converse in other languages will be an added advantageDemonstrate the ability to manage and lead hotel on-site engineering functions to ensure proper fiscal management, stock management and accurate reporting and analysis for the hotel.Demonstrate a flair to review all monthly and annual financial statements. Investigate, review and analyze the variance explanations, with the ultimate aim of managing division expenses.Must have a thorough knowledge of all types of mechanical equipment such as chillers, boilers, water softeners, and refrigeration equipment, plumbing and electrical systems, and maintenance of records of power, water and fuel consumption city codes and other applicable building laws, building construction, OHSA regulations and blueprint reading.Applicants who have a strong working knowledge and experience with hotel security systems and in leading security personnel will definitely be having an additional advantage for this role.
