Where You Will Work   

In operation since 2007, Safford operations is a zero-discharge facility and one of the most sustainable mines in the United States. The operation’s commitment to utilizing advanced technologies and sustainable practices strongly emphasizes safety and environmental stewardship. Located in southeastern Arizona, close to more than 4 million acres of national forest, employees and their families can connect with the great outdoors while fishing, rafting, hiking and more. Several educational institutions also are nearby, including a Northern Arizona University satellite campus, Eastern Arizona College, and the Gila Institute for Technology.   

 

Description Under limited supervision plans, organizes, manages and evaluates designated Engineering projects and programs, ensuring the successful conclusion of all phases within an appropriate time and at appropriate cost. Supervises, enhances and monitors designated Engineering practices for the siteReports environmental compliance issues and makes recommendations to appropriate site management for correctionSupervises or reviews, investigates and develops appropriate recommendations regarding planned Engineering projectsSupervises or may serve as Project Manager or technical expert, on large/complex site construction, expansion or modification Engineering projectsProvides guidance and counsel to the site management team on applicable programs, practices and existing/proposed local, state and federal regulationsEvaluates and administers contracts with vendors for the provision of services and equipmentContributes to site strategic planning and budgeting efforts for designated Engineering areasRepresents the site on company sponsored steering teams, such as Freeport-McMoRan Environmental Steering TeamPerforms other duties as requiredQualifications Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related Engineering discipline and seven (7) years of experience in Engineering or related Scientific field, including lead or supervisory experience, ORMaster's degree in Mining Engineering or related Engineering discipline and five (5) years of experience in Engineering or related Scientific field, including lead or supervisory experienceAdvanced knowledge of the principles and practices of EngineeringAble to research and analyze information of considerable difficulty and draw valid conclusionsSkilled in managing large/complex Engineering projectsSkilled in supervising, evaluating, training and motivating employeesAbility to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautionsSkilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazardsAbility to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing

 

Preferred Qualifications

Advanced degree preferred or Professional Engineering (PE) CertificationOversee all aspects of project management, ensuring projects are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.Manage multi-million-dollar projects, including budgeting, resource allocation, and timeline managementSuperior interpersonal as well as written and oral communication skills with diverse teams of technical and non-technical staffExceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders.Technically savvy, with a deep understanding of relevant technologies such as Power BI toolsSpanish language fluency Ability and willingness to travel domestic / international

 

 

What We Offer You  

The estimated annual pay range for this role is currently $113,000-$158,000. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional incentive compensation considerations based on company and individual performance.  Additionally, this position is currently eligible for annual long-term incentive consideration.  Long-term incentives are contingent upon authorized approval under the terms and conditions of the Company's plan and award agreements.  More details will be shared during the hiring process.  Click here to view a sample of Total Rewards Estimate for this role.

   What We Require    

Candidates may be required to pass a medical exam.   Candidates must pass all required training and/or testing.   Employees may be required to work a non-standard schedule, which may include shift work (other than day shift) at a 24/7, 365-day operation.   Freeport-McMoRan promotes a drug/alcohol-free work environment using mandatory pre-employment drug testing and on-going drug and alcohol testing, as allowed by applicable laws.
