Role/ Department:

Responsible for the delivery of all Finance services into the Bailiwick and its legal entities, the Finance

Director Guernsey, is a key business partner in the location working with Line of Business heads and

functional leads to achieve Northern Trust's business goals in the jurisdiction.

Reporting into a member of the EMEA Finance Leadership Team, the Finance Director will be

responsible for supporting the delivery and oversight of all Finance functions across the region. The

Finance Director also has a reporting line into the Guernsey Country Head and is a key member of

the Channel Islands’ Executive Committee.

The successful candidate will have excellent people management skills, using them to both manage

a small local team and provide effective oversight for financial processes outsourced to group

affiliates.

Individuals with previous banking experience are of particular interest for the role.

 The key responsibilities of the role include:

Oversight of all business finance activities in the Bailiwick, supporting financial planning, reporting and Governance.Provide leadership and strategic direction for the Guernsey Finance function, ensuring alignment with the overall business objectives.Reporting to a number of NT Guernsey Boards, manage the preparation and completion of all applicable financial statements, financial reports including submissions to the Guernsey regulator.Provide input to financial and capital forecasts as part of the Guernsey Bank's ICAAP process.Responsibility for the production and integrity of the location’s financial information and its regulatory reporting in respect of its regulated activities.Management of the allocation and maintenance of capital, funding and liquidity and oversight of the location’s treasury and FX management functions.Primary responsibility for understanding and managing the risk inherent to the Finance function and for taking reasonable steps to ensure the adequacy of the control and governance arrangements within that function.Maintain high standards in financial controls, policies, and procedures to support business growth and operational efficiency.Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with the Guernsey Financial Services Commission, External Auditors and other key outside stakeholders.

Skills/ Qualifications:

The successful candidate will benefit from having:  

Accountancy qualification with expertise gained in a similar level role across  financial control, reporting and critical accounting related concepts.Strong business knowledge and an understanding of the regulatory landscape, risk management , and capital allocation.Proven experience managing external relationships, including with regulatory authorities, external auditors, and other key stakeholdersDemonstrated ability to present to internal boards and senior leadership, supporting data-informed decision making.Ability to provide direction and leadership to manage staff members and champion new initiatives across all lines of business.Excellent analytical and evaluation skills combined with considerable attention to detail.Flexible approach to process changes and variable workloads.Ability to make sound decisions and resolve problems before they escalate.
