With locations in Topeka, Manhattan, and Clay Center, and 140+ employees, Central Mechanical can safely work in virtually every market sector and facility type. **Job Title:** **Chief Financial Officer** **Job Summary:** Central Mechanical Construction is looking for a highly motivated **Chief Financial** Officer to join our accounting team in **Manhattan, KS.** Central Mechanical is a specialty subcontractor providing HVAC, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing services. This individual must lead the organization's financial planning and reporting, strategic initiatives, IT activities, and accounting practices and internal controls as well as concisely communicating financial health of the company to the business unit headquarters by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate managers and staff. **Essential Duties and Responsibilities:** + Possess and perform with an executive level knowledge and understanding of the financial, accounting, and operational functions of the organization, and support the CEO and executive management team in achieving the organization’s vision, goals, and objectives. + Oversees and directs treasury, credit/collections, budgeting, Sarbanes Oxley documentation, tax, accounting, purchasing, capital planning, forecasting, information systems, and financial reporting activities for the organization. + Lead the accounting department in developing the processes/procedures necessary to ensure regulatory compliance, proper records maintenance, and adequate accounting controls in support of Company operations. + Analyzes, consolidates, and directs all cost accounting procedures together with other statistical reporting to accurately report operational results. + Conducts monthly WIP reviews with project managers and divisional leaders to evaluate job performance, assess risks, and proactively manage change orders. + Directs the activities surrounding custodian of funds and assets of the organization, including inventory control. + Appraises the organization's financial position and issues periodic reports on organization's financial stability, profitability trending, cash flow, and targeted growth. + Directs and coordinates the establishment of budget programs to measure and drive productivity. + Coordinates tax and risk management reporting programs to corporate. + Directs and analyzes studies of general economic, business, and financial conditions and their impact on the organization's policies and operations to identify business enhancements or resource rationalization. + Analyzes operational issues impacting functional groups or the whole institution, determining risk assessment, the financial impact, and ultimately actions required to mitigate such risks. + Maintains contacts with financial institutions and corporate finance. + Oversees the proper handling of risk management claims against the company working with corporate risk management resources. **SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES** + Direct or indirect management of 4 employees in the Accounting/HR activities. Is responsible for the overall leadership, development, coordination, and evaluation of this unit. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. **Qualifications:** To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. **EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE** Bachelor’s or MBA in accounting/finance, or related academic discipline is strongly preferred, and 5-10 years professional experience including progressive senior management positions in accounting or finance. Familiarity with construction contract language, including previous experience with Federal contracts, terms and construction accounting. **LANGUAGE SKILLS** Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex contract documents. Effectively respond to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints. Write communications using original or innovative techniques or style. Conduct effective and persuasive presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management and business unit headquarters. **REASONING ABILITY** Define problems, collection of data, establishing facts, and draw valid conclusions. Interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or graphical form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. **CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS** Certified Public Accountant License and related professional certifications preferred; however, extensive financial leadership experience in a like industry with continued education will be considered as a viable alternative. **PHYSICAL DEMANDS** The physical demands associated with this position are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
