We are excited to launch our search for a newChief Information Officer.The departing CIO is leaving the department — and the university — in a great position. The new CIO will have the opportunity to build on recent successes while inheriting a team that is talented, dependable and highly regarded across the institution. The CIO is responsible for leading the development of the technology vision and strategy and day-to-day operations to ensure customer success and optimal management of the university’s complex integrated technology environment. The CIO facilitates institution-wide strategic IT planning, budgeting, policies and compliance. Further, the CIO serves as DMU’s senior spokesperson and subject matter expert on administrative, student support and academic information systems issues. The CIO provides the vision and leadership inclusive of all IT-related operations, including DMU’s HIPAA-covered clinic and a state-of-the-art simulation lab (with a regional sim lab in the works). The responsibilities necessitate a customer-service-focused commitment to meeting the diverse information and communications needs that exist across academic and operational units. The CIO will extend the university’s use of technology to support existing on-campus and online programs and additional degree programs that may be developed in the future. What you’ll do: + Develop and implement a comprehensive strategic ITS plan for the university, aligning operational ITS objectives with DMU’s mission, strategic plan and goals. Provide strategic and tactical planning, development, evaluation and coordination of the information technology systems regarding + computer systems, information technology, computing resources, computing services, security, web and/or network communications. + Oversee and evaluate system security procedures to ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory guidelines. Prepare for known risks and threats; anticipate future risks and threats to the IT structure. + Provide service-oriented leadership based on best practices to create an information technology department and team environment that will enable the university to accomplish its mission. Build a strong customer service orientation within ITS. + Provide direction for the development and implementation of computing and information technology activities and projects. Direct general design specifications for all major information technology and computing projects. + Maintain fiscal responsibility by directing and/or managing the department budget. What we are looking for: + For minimum qualifications, + At least a bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field, an advanced degree will be a plus. + At least 10 years of progressively responsible leadership experience in information technology strategy and operations is required. + In addition to the minimum qualifications listed above, we will take additional interest in applicants who possess any of the following: + Strong preference for experience in an academic health center or higher education institution. However, experience in other comparable service organizations, including health care and non-profits, is welcomed. + Experience overseeing enterprise applications (ERP, CRM, LMS) and integrations service delivery. + Experience with teaching, learning and A/V technologies + Experience leading an information security program inclusive of privacy, security and compliance requirements. + Experience leading highly complex technology environments with knowledge of IT architecture, Microsoft 365 administration, voice and data networking, cloud services, data and analytics, infrastructure and digital engagement. + Experience with or knowledge/certifications in service provision best practices such as ITIL and PMP.
