Chief Mate DP

Job Summary: Responsible for the safety and security of the ship, oversee the deck department and report to the Master, operate on a seagoing ship of 3.000 gross tonnage or more, and able to operate, according with Company Procedures, any DP Vessel as well as DP control station. Be the second in charge of the Master DP and collaborate with him in the definition and execution of the navigation plans. Act as the Vessel Safety Officer, as defined by SOLAS regulations and Company HSES procedures. Whenever required, act as BS (barge supervisor) or BCO (ballast control operator) as defined in IMO resolution A. 1079 (28).
Key Responsibilities: Report to Master DP, keep watching the Bridge and direct the officers and deck personnel, ensuring that operate with discipline and efficiency according to Company requirements, State, Class, Flag, ISM, ISPS, MLC2006, SOLAS, MARPOL, relevant statutory and client requirements. Assist the Master DP during navigation, maneuvering and operative phases; monitor the correct operation of DP system if required, as per Company procedure. Propose to the Master DP to review the operation manual depending on changes to equipment or standard operating procedures. Report to the Master DP unsafe acts/conditions and other issues with implications for safe operation, marine environment and navigability in compliance with HSES procedures. Carry out stability and lifting calculations prior to allowing any ballasting, considering if trim, stability and stress of the vessel are within the maximum limit allowed, in accordance with international Rules (Conventions; coordinate movements of cranes and ballasting of the vessel. Maintain garbage treatment and record according to Administration rules (flag, local and international) and company policy.
Experience and Qualifications:  Minimum 4 -5 years of experience onboard vessels working in Slay as Chief Mate DP. Minimum three (3) Years as Officer in Charge of Navigational Watch DP (Expert Seniority). A minimum experience of One (1) year on offshore activity unless a defined rank of Master DP had been previously covered on board merchant marine vessels. Handling computerized control systems. STCW required certificates, National CoC Reg. II/2 and endorsement. Completion of all training and certifications as described in the Training Matrix. Dynamic Position Training as per Company DP Procedure. MOU stability course (where applicable).
