The Opportunity
System Chief Medical Officer, UCHealth
The System Chief Medical Officer (CMO) at UCHealth plays a pivotal role in championing clinical effectiveness, quality, and patient safety. The Chief Medical Officer is responsible for overseeing all medical operations within the organization, ensuring high-quality patient care is delivered while aligning medical strategies with the overall business objectives, including compliance with regulations, by leading and guiding the medical staff, developing clinical policies, and collaborating with other departments to optimize patient outcomes; essentially acting as a bridge between the medical staff and the executive leadership team.
The CMO is expected to lead and develop innovative and measurable programs aimed at improving patient safety, quality of care, and health outcomes. They are accountable for creating and managing systems that facilitate the transfer of knowledge and process improvement.
Reporting Relationships
Reports to: President and Chief Executive Officer of UCHealth
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Leadership:
• Developing and implementing clinical policies and procedures aligned with best practices and regulatory standards.
• Monitoring clinical quality metrics and identifying areas for improvement.
• Overseeing physician credentialing and performance management.
• Promoting a culture of patient safety and quality improvement.
Strategic Planning:
• Participating in strategic planning initiatives to align clinical goals with organizational objectives.
• Identifying opportunities for growth and innovation in clinical services.
• Analyzing healthcare trends and adapting clinical practices accordingly.
Physician Relations:
• Building strong relationships with physicians and medical staff to foster collaboration and engagement.
• Addressing physician concerns and advocating for their needs.
• Facilitating communication between medical staff and other departments.
Compliance and Regulatory Oversight:
• Ensuring adherence to all applicable healthcare laws, regulations, and accreditation standards
• Monitoring compliance with quality metrics and reporting to relevant authorities
Financial Management:
• Collaborating with finance teams to develop and manage clinical budgets
• Analyzing utilization patterns and identifying opportunities for cost optimization
Community Engagement:
• Representing the health system in community initiatives and collaborations
• Promoting health awareness and preventative care programs
Candidate Qualifications

The successful candidate will meet the following requirements:
Education/Certification
• Graduate of an accredited medical school
• A master's degree in health administration, public health or business administration preferred
• 5 years' experience in Senior-level medical staff, academic or association leadership required
• Unrestricted Colorado Board of Medical Examiners physician license
• Certification in management or physician leadership preferred.
Pay: $457,600 - $686,420 annual. Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience
