Louisiana First News in Baton Rouge is seeking an experienced, passionate, and innovative Chief Meteorologist to lead our weather team. As a trusted source of information for our viewers, we are looking for a leader who combines strong on-air performance with the latest forecasting tools to deliver accurate and compelling weather coverage.
This role is especially critical in a region prone to severe weather and hurricanes—your expertise will guide our viewers through life-threatening conditions with clarity and urgency. You will be the face of our hurricane coverage, providing vital updates before, during, and after storms while helping to keep our community safe and informed.

Key Responsibilities:
Lead the weather team in delivering accurate and engaging forecasts on all platforms (TV, digital, social media)Serve as the station’s primary on-air meteorologist for evening newscasts and severe weather coverageDevelop and implement creative, viewer-first weather storytelling strategiesWork closely with the news management team to plan and coordinate weather coverageMaintain a strong digital and social media presenceTrain, mentor, and provide feedback to other meteorologists and weather producersEnsure all weather graphics and systems are up-to-date and effectively utilizedQualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Meteorology, Atmospheric Science, or related fieldMinimum 5 years of on-air meteorology experience, preferably in a leadership roleAMS and/or NWA Seal of Approval preferredProven experience with severe weather coverage, including hurricanes, tornadoes, and floodingStrong communication and presentation skillsProficiency with weather systems such as Baron, WSI, or similarWhy Join Us:
