Chief Meteorologist

WOLF is looking for a full-time Chief Meteorologist to join our weather team. Duties include creating and presenting content for our television newscasts as well as our digital platforms, posting on social media, writing weather blogs, creating weather social graphics and engaging with our viewers on social media. Our winning candidate will be someone who embraces social media and knows how to consistently engage with the audience with content beyond selfies. Collaboration is a big part of this role!
 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Forecasting, producing and presenting clear and concise weathercasts, which tell a story and connect with viewers Issue warnings and alerts, produce graphics and maps, and report live during weather events Utilize social media during severe weather, as well as write weather stories Strong "in-the-field and live" skills, must be able to adlib breaking stories for extended coverage Exceptional written communications skills using a conversational writing style Strong editorial judgment and a proven ethical foundation Make public appearances on behalf of the station

What skills do you need to be successful in our role?

Live TV News experience is a must Ability to tell memorable and meaningful stories Ability to demonstrate experience with active and visual live shots Ability to execute during breaking news events and add context Ability to seek and find breaking news Expertise in producing breaking news content for audiences on multiple platforms Ability to demonstrate enterprise reporting and creativity in story-telling Contribute story ideas to daily editorial meetings Post content on assigned digital platforms daily In-depth knowledge of forecasting Ability to multitask while meeting deadlines and prioritizing tasks Bachelor's degree in Meteorology, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience. Smooth/pleasant delivery Strong writing skills and news judgment Sharp video shooting and editing skills Exemplary communication skills
