Job Overview
The Chief Multimedia Engineer, Information Systems Technology, Capitol Campus Law - Georgetown University oversees the technical operation and maintenance of all audiovisual systems supported by the department at the Law Center. This includes classrooms, event spaces and conference rooms in addition to other supported spaces. The position also oversees the exploration, research, purchase, inventory, installation and integration of equipment and services in department supported facilities. The Chief Multimedia Engineer requires knowledge of how to operate and maintain a wide variety of audiovisual multimedia including lecture capture software, digital and analog audiovisual interfaces and television production equipment. Candidate must be able to manage both small and large AV projects.

Work Interactions
The Chief Multimedia Engineer reports to the Director of Audio Visual Event Services and engages with senior administrators, staff, faculty, students and vendors. The Technical Director will need to possess superior communication skills as they may interact with nationally and internationally recognized VIP guests, high level University administration and alumni as well as national and local press in addition to everyday interaction with faculty, staff and students. Duties include, but are not limited to

Daily operation and oversight of multimedia and audiovisual equipment in Law Center classrooms, conference rooms, event spaces and mock trial spaces. To include investigating and troubleshooting issues, delegation of duties to AV staff

Project and departmental planning/Project management. Technical director will manage AV related departmental projects. This includes using departmental PM software and using all departmental resources to ensure that deadlines are met. The Technical Director will attend planning meetings with multiple departments for upcoming events, identifying all resource requirements to ensure that client needs are met and that events are staffed and operated correctly

Perform routine and complex maintenance on all equipment and software related to classroom, event and conferencing operations

Research/Development/Acquisition and Inventory. Research new technologies; develop solutions to current and foreseen AV issues; purchase new equipment and/or software; keep current inventory of all AV equipment and software licenses

Requirements and Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required plus 4 years of video production and equipment installation and operation experience.

Experience in addition to 4 years may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree.

A working knowledge of broadcast standards and master control systems is necessary.

Video Conferencing and Audiovisual certifications are a plus.

Knowledge of theater and production lighting

Ability to multitask, often working under stress to complete tasks that require complex set-up and operation.

Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and work from ladders and scaffolding.

Familiarity with electrical standards as they relate to AV equipment

Must have working knowledge of safety equipment: gloves, eye and ear protection, etc.

Must be willing to accept flexible hours and overtime.

Understanding of the following technologies: Digital switchers, digital audiovisual systems and computer interfaces, video capturing software, video conferencing systems, digital video editing software, light boards, cloud storage such as Google Apps and Box; generally, Mac and PC proficient.

Pay Range:

The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:

$47,586.00 - $87,558.13

Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University’s business needs and external factors.
