THE OPPORTUNITY
Plan International Ghana is looking to recruit a highly experienced and qualified professional for the position of Chief of Party (COP) for the USAID-funded Ghana Advancing Protection and Care for Children in Adversity (Child Protection) Activity. The COP will oversee all aspects of this project, leading strategic planning and decision making, providing technical guidance, overseeing activities of the sub-recipients, and supervising staff.
DIMENSIONS OF THE ROLE
Serving as the key liaison with USAID, Ministries and technical agencies, implementing partners and other stakeholders, the COP will also establish and maintain an integrated vision among different actors while ensuring adherence to all project objectives, performance requirements, and donor regulations. S/he will oversee coordination of field operations and ensure that activities meet USAID and Plan International standards

RESPONSIBILITIES
The position involves but is not limited to:
Providing overall technical and managerial oversight and leadership for the project; Design and direct program activities in consultation with USAID, the GOG and key stakeholders; Leading a team of technical experts, advisors, local partners, and other project staff; Serve as the primary in-country point of contact with USAID, partner organizations, national government stakeholders, and other donors and implementers; Ensuring efficient and compliant management of financial resources; Overseeing management, delivery, and monitoring of sub-grants; Supervise field operations, administration, logistics, safeguarding and procurement; Supervise program monitoring, evaluation, and reporting and ensure quality control and timeliness of all deliverables as required by the grant and donors; Assure full compliance with all USAID, Plan, and other fiduciary regulations
TECHNICAL EXPERTISE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
Qualifications & Experience
The position holder must meet the following minimum requirements:
Master’s degree in social work, sociology, law, public administration, or related areas is required. A minimum of ten (10) years of progressively responsible professional experience in social services, child protection, and care, or social protection is required. At least five years of this experience must have included program management and data and policy analysis of social sector programs. Demonstrated leadership skills and experience to build and maintain productive working relationships with a wide network of institutional partners and stakeholders, including high-level host country governments and international agencies. Proven track record of building teams and fostering collaboration in order to achieve goals, meet milestones and produce quality results. Demonstrated knowledge of USAID procedures pertaining to project design and implementation, monitoring and evaluation, and financial management and reporting. Proficiency in at least one of Ghana’s local languages.
