Chief of Staff
Who Boundless Is

We’re a team of immigrants and experts who have struggled with our own journeys through the complex, high-stakes U.S. immigration system. That is why we are building deeply customer-centric products and experiences to become the default trusted partner for all families and businesses. We are the largest player in the family immigration industry, and a high-growth challenger serving corporate clients. Across both consumer and business segments, we’ve aided over 100,000 individuals in their quest for U.S. residency.

We're backed by influential venture investors around the country, including Foundry Group (led by Brad Feld), Trilogy Equity Partners, Pioneer Square Labs, Emerson Collective (Laurene Powell Jobs’ foundation), Two Sigma Ventures, and Jerry Yang.

Today, we are a dynamic growth-stage technology company with 350+ employees across the U.S. and Philippines. We are growing both organically and through strategic acquisitions. We are well-capitalized and on a path to becoming the default brand and largest player in the entire industry, helping millions of lives.

About this Role

We’re looking for a Chief of Staff to work as the CEO’s extension and thought partner to execute on an increasingly complex and critical basket of priorities. Areas of focus will flex fully from the strategic to the tactical, from strategic planning and resource planning to corporate development, internal communications, and more. You will support our CEO and, in extension, our team of cross-functional leaders at Boundless. Whatever it takes, the Chief of Staff is there to champion projects, manage and support people, processes, and communications until the result is achieved.

It is a versatile “swiss-army knife” role with ample opportunities to learn and make a difference, and is the perfect role for someone who wants a front-row seat as a startup continues to grow into a company. You will bring significant improvements to the organization’s performance, lead essential projects, get a lot of responsibility, and exposure to different teams and parts of the company, the executive team, partners, acquisition targets, investors, and the board of directors.

You will report directly to the CEO, Xiao Wang. You won’t have a permanent team – instead, you’re expected to collaborate across the organization, leading and influencing decisions without formal authority, using the power of expertise, data, and inspiring, effective communication. This role comes with high expectations in terms of work quantity and quality, as you’ll frequently be representing the CEO, and requires a level of commitment that matches Xiao’s passion and drive. You’ll also regularly travel both domestically and internationally, visiting our offices in the Philippines and other global locations as we continue to expand.

About You

You are a problem solver and self-organizer who thrives in ambiguity and fast-paced environments, with constantly changing priorities driven by new information. You love being given ambitious goals and the freedom to figure out how to get there. You have a history of exceeding expectations on mission-critical, challenging projects because you are an effective owner who can properly balance “speed to action” with “high standards,” as well as “diving deep” with “making decisions with insufficient data.”

You are an empathetic, caring, and mature leader. You are someone who others naturally go to for thought partnership and advice. You can effectively balance collaboration with clarity and direction. You have a deep sense of curiosity and you strive to be the best version of yourself. You happily take on whatever it takes to get the job done—everyone rolls up their sleeves here, including Xiao.

What You’ll Do Create leverage for the CEO, helping him focus on creating the greatest impact with his most limited resource, his time   Act as a problem-solving thought partner to the CEO on any topic, for example around strategic goals, performance management, execution issues, communications, stakeholder management, and beyond. Work hand in hand with the CEO and other functional leaders, making sure that the operating rhythm and agenda of key meetings enable the company to stay in sync and achieve its strategic goals. Lead, influence, and inspire without formal authority. Act as a problem-solving partner to functional leaders to elevate their thinking and execution. Elevate internal communications and culture-building at the company, leading the preparation of monthly newsletters, quarterly Town Hall meetings, Board of Directors presentations, team and leadership offsites, and relevant follow-up actions.  Spearhead specific strategic projects/initiatives, acting as an interim leader to execute on high priority business areas or initiatives: scoping, setting goals and success metrics, reporting on outcomes. Act as a true generalist, doing whatever it takes to help the business succeed.

Some sample projects that our current Chief of Staff has worked on during their tenure: post-acquisition integration management, legal operations model innovation, product tests in response to policy changes, implementation of a new decision-making framework, and cross-functional coordination for pricing updates.
