Chief Philanthropy Officer Requisition Number 2024-7665 Overview

Reporting to the CEO, the Chief Philanthropy Officer (CPO) is accountable for achieving the fundraising and development goals of the Philanthropy team by growing our foundations, corporate and individual contributions, special events, grants and government funding streams, expanding our donor base and by managing key donor relationships.  The CPO assigns goals and responsibilities to team members, coaches, develops, and assesses the team and will also actively contribute to the goals of BGCSPS as a whole while accepting other responsibilities that are assigned based on the needs of the overall organization. BGCSPS is committed to working cross functionally and collaboratively across our organization.

Responsibilities Build the infrastructure and team to carry out a well-crafted donor centered development plan including donor cultivation and stewardship, major gift solicitation, government, endowment, corporate and foundation proposals, special events and the communications required to support these activities. 

 

Participate in the development, implementation and monitoring of the annual budget as it relates to stewardship, controlling expenditures within budget and maintaining donor financial records in accordance with standards. Build a Donor-Centered strategy by implementing proven development strategies to build, broaden and diversify the donor base and driving a partner strategy to gain critical support from community and foundation funding organizations. Support the development of government grants.Build a Major Gifts focus by leading efforts to build a sustainable fundraising program that prioritizes donor retention, stewardship and relationship building at its core.Use outcomes and Club stories to engage donors at a higher level.Build a strong community presence, capitalizing a strong Board involvement at the central and community club level to heighten awareness via strong statements of support and unifying fundraising activities and events for the greatest collective impact.Build Fundraising Champions by working with the CEO to steward the Board in their fundraising efforts. Guide and train the Board and ensure all Board members have the support they need to be successful in raising funds for the organization.Attract, retain, motivate and develop a strong, results oriented, can do team of fundraising professionals. Identify, cultivate, recruit and develop fundraising volunteers and Club advocates.Proactively build authentic partnerships and productive relationships with key stakeholders, influencers and donors, including funders, corporations, community leaders, families and government.Serve as a public relations spokesperson for BGCSPS mission, programs, people and deliverables. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of study, or equivalent combination of knowledge and experience. Minimum of 7-10 years of progressively responsible experience in development and fundraising roles including at least 5 years managing staff and working with Boards and volunteers CFRE certification is preferred. . Deep commitment to racial equity and social justice and ability to effectively engage in candid conversations  about diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice.Must be able to comply with drug-free workplace policy. Must have a valid Washington State driver’s license, be willing to travel within Washington State, and have access to reliable transportation with automobile insurance.
