Chief Photographer
Set standards for the photography and editing staff.  Inspire, train, guide and coach them to excellence.  Must be a shining example of visual storytelling and teamwork, and must be able to communicate and foster that passion to the people the Chief Photographer leads.Provide regular feedback and coaching for photographers and editors.Design appropriate training opportunities, and collaborate with other team members to provide that training.Stay abreast of technological advancements, and position your staff to take advantage of those developments.   Work with your news director to design a plan to acquire and deploy new technology into the field.Document the performance of your individual team members.  Provide evaluation, praise, discipline and written evaluations.Recruit photographers and editors, and shepherd them through the hiring process.Schedule photographers and editors and track their time off.Collaborate with the news management team to execute daily coverage and special projects with an eye on serving the community, building ratings and growing WREG’s brand.Embrace the strategic action plan and communicate the vision to your staff, illustrating how they can contribute to the overall goals.Assign equipment to your staff, and facilitate proper maintenance of WREG resources.Track the care and maintenance of vehicles assigned to your work group.Manage your portion of the budget successfully.   Keep the news director abreast of changing needs and opportunities.Work in the field as assigned.Perform other duties as assigned by the assistant news director and news director

Basic Qualifications 
 

·  Minimum 5 years experience shooting and editing news content and knowledge of live remote capabilities in a Broadcast station.
·  Preferred experience operating ENG live/microwave truck. 
·  Experience operating communication tools and staying connected with the assignment constituencies (i.e. use of email software, cell phone, messaging tools, etc.) 


Eligibility Requirements 
 

·  Must submit a tape of own work to be considered. 
·  Physical requirements required to perform medium/heavy physical work which includes: 
~Lifting and carrying camera equipment ranging from 15 lbs. to 30 lbs. (in camera weight) for extended periods of time to shoot on remote locations. 
·  Willingness to travel and work overtime, and on weekends with short notice 
·  Must have a valid driver’s license 
·  Must be willing to submit to a background investigation 
·  Must have the ability to work any of a 24 x 7 shift 
·  Must be 18 years or greater 
·  Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States

·  Highly organized with the ability to multi-task effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic, deadline-driven environment 

·  Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization, both verbally and in writing and effectively coach/critique the work of colleagues 
·  Advanced problem solving and analytical skills 
·  Flexible with the ability to transition seamlessly between tasks and balance daily demands with long term strategic goals 

·   Knowledge of wireless newsgathering technology 
·  Team player who is flexible
