Job Title: Chief Pilot (UAV)

Reports To: Director of Aerial Services
Location: Windsor CO, Fort Worth, Houston, or Midland TX
The Chief Pilot (UAV) is responsible for the safe, secure, and compliant operation of all UAV Systems as well as taking ownership of the pilot competency and continued airworthiness of UAS platforms. Manages field crews deploying UAVs for data collection, mapping, surveillance, and other specialized tasks, while ensuring safety, compliance, and optimal performance.
Key Responsibilities
UAV OperationServe as a strong leader while nurturing teamwork and collaboration.Monitor and manage crew duty, flight, and rest time requirements. Oversee plan and execution of UAV missions, including flight planning, pre-flight checks, and in-flight operations.Operate UAVs for various applications, such as aerial photography, surveying, agriculture, and environmental monitoring.
Maintenance and TroubleshootingPerform routine maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting of UAVs and related equipment.Ensure UAVs are in optimal working condition for safe and reliable operations.
Safety and ComplianceAdhere to safety protocols and compliance with relevant regulations and airspace restrictions.Maintain knowledge of UAV regulations and obtain necessary permits or licenses.
Training and Knowledge SharingKeep abreast of emerging UAV technology and trends in the industry.Ensures all ground and flight training program meets or exceeds FAA and Company requirements.Responsible for training and currency of all UAV Crews across the company.
Reporting and DocumentationGenerate mission reports, documentation, and data logs for post-mission analysis and regulatory compliance.Maintain records of UAV operations and equipment maintenance.
Quality AssuranceImplement quality control measures to ensure data accuracy and mission success.Address any issues or discrepancies in data or operations.
QualificationsBachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as Geospatial Sciences, Aeronautics, or Remote Sensing (required); additional UAV certifications are a plus.A minimum of 5 years of experience in UAV operations and data collection.Proficiency in operating various UAV platforms and relevant software.Knowledge of UAV regulations and safety guidelines.Strong problem-solving and technical skills.Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
