Chief Project Engineer, Mechanical
Wärtsilä Energy Business is looking for a Chief Project Engineer, Mechanical to plan and execute mechanical works for Engine Power Plants. Location for this position is in Houston, Texas, USA. Partial remote working is also possible, working outside from Wärtsilä´s premises from a preferred location in USA.
To succeed in this position, you are expected to hold B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering (or similar). We expect minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical Engineering or Project Management within Wärtsilä. Working in multicultural environment, you have cultural knowledge and excellent communication and team working skills. As a Chief Project Engineer, you will be responsible for the whole own discipline or a defined part of the scope in project execution towards the Project Manager for the project.
As a Chief Project Engineer, you should also be pro-active and have cost awareness and effectiveness skills i.e. working as a lead engineer for own discipline as well as working with interphases towards other disciplines and customer.
Main responsibilities
To be a representative of the company and have technical ownership of assigned tasks or projects Manage project activities, integration engineering and technical correspondence with customers, vendors and cross functional stakeholders as well as internal team members Plan and safeguard execution of activities with the total cost, schedule and customer specific needs in focus according to standards and contract requirements, specifications, instructions and policies Actively participate in customer, vendor and stakeholder negotiations and maintain good relationships Identify, mitigate, monitor and report risks, quality issues, use of resources, cost, schedule and scope issues in projects and for products and work process improvement Support project and sales teams in complex projects and stakeholders with concepts and product solutions maintaining and developing knowledge in the global organisation

Participate in developing and maintaining of tools and work methods in own responsibility area To give, collect and handle feedback regarding technical solutions and complaints Provide lessons learned initiatives for developing issues in own responsibility area
Professional Skills and knowledge areas
Mechanical and/or Process engineering knowledge of Engine Power Plants Project Management skills Procurement skills Cost awareness & effectiveness Negotiation skills Presentation skills Problem solving and decision making Previous job experience from similar field of work Spanish language is seen as a benefit.
