We are looking for a Geospatial Scientist to join our team. Do you have the following skills?

​The Geospatial Scientist will\:

Engage and advise on science project activities including, but not limited to\: requirements analysis, documentation and traceability matrix development, preliminary design, critical design, detailed design, test and evaluation, research and development, implementation and fielding, and sustainment and operations throughout the entire life cycle of the EROS program. Develop and sustain an EROS environment for Research and Development (R&D) of Experimental or Developmental space capabilities and future operational systems as well as providing technical guidance and oversight for operationalizing capabilities for the USGS. Perform impact assessments of customer requests. Develop and present briefings for internal customers and external stakeholders. Oversee, manage, and coordinate science efforts across the EROS environment and supported tenants. Ensure USGS products, services, and capabilities are delivered to customers. Validate and verify documentation standards of USGS Enterprise solutions. Be able to create and follow standard processes and clearly document results. Have excellent presentation, oral and written skills to facilitate effective and efficient interchanges with senior customer and management and customers. Influence the workforce and support the client by demonstrating the following attributes\: Be a strong innovator in process improvement and system design. Be able to quickly learn challenging concepts, decompose difficult software problems and provide guidance or resolution. Be able to lead a group of diverse individuals with varying backgrounds to achieve mission success. Take on additional duties that may be necessary to mission success. *

Bachelors, Masters or PhD degree in earth science, geology, environmental science, atmospheric science, image science, oceanography, geography, planetary science, GIS, remote sensing, computational science or relevant science fields with applicable experience Proficient with GIS and/or remote sensing software Proficient with imaging software, algorithms for image correction and quantitative image quality determination Proficient with image mass-data archival and retrieval techniques Excellent oral and written communication skills and will be expected to effectively interact with teammates, customers, and management at all levels Ability to prepare written documents and present at various meetings Ability to develop innovative work ideas and work without specific tasking

Use of spatial datasets, image processing, data validation methods Geospatial database management, ArcGIS Online, Esri Portal, open-source GIS software Geoscience field work, lab, image science, and/or remote sensing experience Machine learning, neural networks Scientific teaching experience Mission science integration and operations Previous work with NASA and/or in the field of planetary geology *
