Chief Traffic Engineer
Reporting to the Chief of Design, the successful candidate is responsible for directing all Traffic Engineering Services for the Client’s Capital and Operating Programs, as well as Operational Support for the Aviation, Tunnels, Bridges and Terminals, PATH, WTC, and Port Departments, and serves as the Traffic Engineering subject matter expert, providing guidance and advisory services to senior Client’s executives. Traffic Engineering role can be best defined as the DOT of the Client and it has the unique and critical Agency responsibility to establish and implement the rules and regulations for the public-facing multi-modal transportation system. Requirements • The Traffic Engineering services include transportation planning, design, operations, safety, modeling, data analytics and technologies in support of the operations of all Agency facilities, as well as the effective delivery of the State of Good Repair and Major Agency Programs. • The Traffic Engineer is responsible for producing high quality, innovative, and cost-effective transportation facility designs, that meet the Agency's Program requirements and provide transportation assets that enable world class customer experiences. • The Traffic Engineer is responsible for all Traffic Engineering services, that include roadway geometric design; traffic planning studies; ITS systems design and operation; Maintenance of Traffic/Construction support; facility traffic operations support, responsible for 24/7 PA-Agency Operations Center, the Agency's Traffic Safety Program; and design and legal authorization of traffic control devices, including signs, roadway markings, traffic signals and 115 devices. • The Traffic Engineer oversees recruiting, hiring, training, salary administration, promotions, the overall professional development, and motivation of approximately 40 or more assigned staff members, including Client’s staff and consultant staff; takes action to address performance problems; actively engages in internal and external professional development opportunities and industry organizations; and fosters an inclusive workplace where diversity and individual differences are valued and leveraged to achieve the vision and mission of the organization
