Job Description

Children’s Child Advocacy team aims to improve child health and wellness through awareness, prevention and education efforts in our community. Child Advocacy is organized in four pillars: obesity prevention, behavioral & mental health, injury & illness prevention, and child protection. The Child Advocacy Intern will gain experience in some or all of the following areas:
•\tProject and program research, development, implementation, and evaluation
•\tHealth promotion and education opportunities in medical, community, school, and early care settings
•\tDatabase management
•\tCommunity relationship building

Project/position description:

Assist with research, project/program development, implementation, and evaluation for Child Advocacy’s 2025 strategic prioritiesWork independently on assigned literature searches and complete assigned special projectsAssist in development and coordination of content for distributionImplement specific Child Advocacy activities in community settingsAssist with data analysis and database managementOther responsibilities as determined by the teamSpecific 2025 projects based on skillset may include support for community-based obesity intervention program, development of health education program for early care students, mental health school-based program evaluation, or improvements to community-based injury prevention programs

Qualifications:

Progression toward an undergraduate or graduate degree in Public Health, Community Health, Behavioral Sciences, Health Education, Health Promotion, Nutrition, Exercise Science, Evaluation, Epidemiology or  health-related field preferredStrong work ethic and demonstrated initiativeStrong writing, communication, interpersonal and presentation skillsSolid process, analytical, problem solving and time management skillsStrong attention to detail and organizational skillsProficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

Education

College or graduate student that is currently working towards a Bachelor or Master’s degree in Journalism, Communications, Business, Marketing, Healthcare Administration or other related field

Job Responsibilities

Develops and implements projects as assigned, which could include events, activities, programs, or research studies.Creates and carries out a cohesive plan for each assigned project. Establishes and maintains contact with all appropriate individuals to ensure that the plan is implemented in the best interest of the organization.Executes administrative and operational tasks for assigned projects.Supports and participates in the continuous assessment and improvement of the quality of services provided and projects produced.Understands and complies with infection control, safety, and OSHA procedures and regulations, while meeting all in-service requirements as outlined per policy.
