Child and Adolescent Nurse Practitioner, Special Education Schools - Gaithersburg, MD (part time)

Sheppard Pratt’s network of schools provide tailored education and services for students with a variety of needs. Each of our eleven schools across Maryland has its own unique personality and community, enriching the lives of our students and their families. Our comprehensive programs consist of education, counseling, social skills training, work experience, and family counseling.

This position will split its time between our locations in Gaithersburg, Maryland.

What you can expect.

This is an opportunity to provide psychiatric support and expertise within a special education school setting for students ages 7 – 21. You will work collaboratively with educators, administrators, and other professionals to address the mental health needs of Sheppard Pratt’s students with diverse learning and developmental disabilities.

Specific responsibilities include:

Conducting psychiatric assessments of students referred for evaluation, considering their unique learning and development needs. Providing consultation to teachers, staff, and parents regarding students’ behavioral, emotional, or psychiatric concerns, offering guidance and strategies to support overall development. Monitoring students’ respond to medication treatment, including the effectiveness of the prescribed medications in alleviating symptoms and improving functioning.

 What we need from you.

Must have a current license to practice in Maryland at time of hire. Must be Board certified. Must have at least six months of child and adolescent mental health treatment experience.
