Job Summary
Under general supervision, is responsible for performing professional level work assisting individuals with child care needs through telephone or face to face interviews and counseling. Working conditions are primarily inside an office environment. Exercises no supervision.
This position is a "grant funded" position, therefore, unclassified and has no disciplinary appeal rights to the Municipal Civil Service Commission. This position is likewise subject to at-will employment status and can be terminated at any time for any reason.

Essential Job Functions
+ Conducts preliminary and ongoing eligibility intakes/re-certifications for parents applying for federally funded Child Care Services Program.
+ Performs calculations to determine parent's financial obligations for child care services.
+ Monitors adjustments and payments.
+ Maintains case records both electronically and hardcopy.
+ Provides excellent customer service to both internal and external customers.
+ Coordinates between vendor and parent to complete child care arrangements.
+ Conducts research and justification for various accounting adjustments, to include computer entry.
+ Performs related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required.
Job Requirements
+ Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with preferable coursework in Business, Child Development, or related field.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Experience working with a high-volume case load.
+ Bilingual in English and Spanish.
+ Knowledge and experience working with eligibility determination.
+ Valid Texas Class "C" Driver's License.

+ Unless otherwise stated, applicants are permitted to substitute two years of related full-time experience for one year of higher education or one year of related higher education for two years of experience in order to meet the minimum requirements of the job. One year of full-time experience is defined as 30 or more hours worked per week for 12 months. One year of higher education is defined as 30 credit hours completed at an accredited college or university.
+ Applicants selected for employment with the City of San Antonio in this position must receive satisfactory results from pre-employment drug testing and background checks. If required for the position, a physical, motor vehicle record evaluation, and additional background checks may be conducted.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
+ Knowledge of counseling and interviewing techniques.
+ Skill in utilizing personal computers and associated MS Windows-based software applications (e.g. Word, Excel) and federal/state designed programs in the completion of assignments.
+ Ability to operate a computer keyboard and other basic office equipment.
+ Ability to maintain and submit accurate records within the required time periods.
+ Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
+ Ability to estimate time and materials needed for projects.
+ Ability to perform all the physical requirements of the position.
