Under the supervision of the Child Care Director, the Lead Teacher is responsible for care and supervision of children in their assigned age group which may include infant, toddler, preschool or school-age children. Responsible for the supervision of the Assistant Teacher or Aide assigned to the classroom. To lead, plan and organize childcare program activities to ensure that the program provides the highest quality childcare available.

This position includes:

Responsibilities/Job Description

Research and development of curriculum relevant to your classroom age group.

Provide weekly plans to both the Director and the parents of the childcare program.

Ensures implementation of age-appropriate curriculum to nurture and stimulate the psychosocial, cognitive and cultural needs of the children in their care.

Responsible to report any concerns to director any concerns regarding staff or classroom issues.

Supervises health and safety needs of every child.

Conducts classroom and parent meetings.

Keeps classroom neat and orderly.

Trains and guides the assigned Assistant Teacher, Aide and/or Volunteer, involving them in activity planning and program implementation with input from supervisor.

Directly supervise classroom aides and volunteers. Report all needed information to the center’s Director.

Ability to perform other duties as assigned and directed.

Qualifications

Required:

High school Diploma/GED - Child Development or Teacher qualified under Minnesota Rule 9503.003Other License/Certification/Registration: List -Current Pediatric CPR from American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross; must be obtained within 90-days of hire.None to 1 Year

Preferred:

Associate DegreeBachelor's DegreeOne to Three Years- Two years teaching in childcare center or early childhood program

Compensation

$20.01 - $28.25/Hr.
