Trauma Services is seeking a Child Development Specialist (CDS) to deliver parent- child Group Attachment Based Intervention (GABI), psychotherapy, and other evidence- based interventions for very young children. The CDS will provide child, family and relational assessments of children referred for developmental delays and behavior problems, develop treatment plans, and provide weekly therapy as well as care coordination and case management as required. The ideal candidate will have skills consistent with both crisis management and ongoing therapeutic work with patients and their families. Strength in collaboration with community agencies, school and medical facilities is needed. He/ She will make independent and consistent decisions regarding patient management, work with an interdisciplinary team and other clinical providers/ administration at RFK CERC and the Medical Center.
Group Attachment Based Intervention (GABI) is an intensive clinical service designed for families with birth to three-year old children who are receiving Preventive Services. GABI will expand from its one site location to 5 sites city-wide. Child Development Specialists will be trained in the GABI model through in person trainings and through an on line training curriculum. Training and supervision will be provided on an ongoing basis. Child Development Specialists will provide Group Attachment Based Intervention for families with infants, toddlers, and preschool age children who are referred through Administration for Children's Services Preventive agencies. Child Development offer clinical evaluation and treatment services to parents and caregivers and plan for comprehensive family support services. Liaise with Preventive case planners and participate in required family meetings. To participate in reflective supervision with colleagues and graduate externs.
This position works as part of a multi-disciplinary clinical team and will receive clinical supervision from a licensed clinical psychologist and licensed clinical social worker. Spanish speaking highly preferred.
Masters degree Social Work- NYS license or eligibility required to obtain license within 6 months
Psychology degree, NYS license or eligibility required to obtain license within 6 months
