Position Overview:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSInterviews childbearing families to determine current knowledge of childbirth parenting skills, and coping skills.Facilitates groups of diverse learners while demonstrating and practicing cultural humility.Conveys class content in accessible and responsive manner. Develops plan utilizing approved curriculum outlines.Maintains evidence-based knowledge base to ensure families receive the most current and accurate information.Provides opportunities for class participants to provide verbal and written feedback about class content and teaching methods.Discusses schedules, status of programs, and potential challenges with Childbirth Education Coordinator.Performs other duties as needed to meet operational need of department.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTSEducation: Any nationally recognized certification in childbirth education required. Graduate of an accredited degree program in nursing or bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.Experience:One year of experience in perinatal education.Other Credentials: AHA BLS - Healthcare ProviderKnowledge and Skills: Strong organizational, instructional and communication skills. Effective presentation and delivery skills. Knowledge of age specific techniques.Special Training: Self-directed. Highly collaborative. Actively seeks opportunities to improve skills and knowledge.
