As Chief Architect in China at Honeywell, you will lead Enterprise Architecture\nfunction for in-country IT solutions responsible for enforcing enterprise IT\nstandards while adapting to meet the unique needs and regulatory requirements\nof the local market. This role requires strong communication skills in English\n& Mandarin to champion architectural decisions to global and local teams,\nensuring compliance with enterprise standards, while also advocating for\nflexibility where necessary. Additionally, this role involves supporting the implementation\nof IT solutions in China, managing risks, and optimizing performance, while\nmaintaining alignment with global strategies and objectives.
You will report to Senior Director –Applications Enterprise\nArchitecture based in US while dotted line to China\nregional CIO. You’ll work at our Beijing location on a hybrid work schedule\nwith at least 3 days a week onsite.
In this role, you will impact our organization's ability to adapt, scale, and\nthrive in an ever-evolving technological landscape. Your leadership will\nempower business teams to accelerate growth in China while meeting global\nsecurity and local compliance requirements. You will part of a global\nenterprise architecture team that has the charter to modernize and standardize\ntechnology landscape across Honeywell.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Enforce Enterprise Standards and Architecture:
Define\n and Implement Standards: Ensure that all local application\n development, deployment, and integration processes comply with global\n enterprise IT standards and architectural frameworks.
Review\n and Approve Solutions: Evaluate proposed technical solutions, ensuring\n alignment with the company’s architectural guidelines while considering\n scalability, security, and sustainability.
Governance:\n Develop and enforce governance models to maintain consistency and quality\n in architecture design and implementation across local teams.
2. China-Specific Business and Regulatory Adaptation:
Local\n Regulatory Compliance: Understand and ensure adherence to local\n regulatory requirements such as China’s cybersecurity and data protection\n laws (e.g., China’s Personal Information Protection Law, GDPR\n equivalence).
Localization\n of Solutions: Collaborate with business stakeholders to adapt global\n IT standards and applications to meet local market needs and legal\n constraints without compromising enterprise architecture.
3. Stakeholder Engagement and Communication:
Bridge\n Between Global and Local Teams: Act as a key liaison between global IT\n teams and local business stakeholders to align objectives and\n technological solutions.
Translate\n Technical Concepts: Clearly communicate complex architectural designs\n and technical decisions to non-technical stakeholders in China, ensuring\n they understand the business value and necessity of adhering to enterprise\n standards.
Justify\n Architecture Decisions: Provide business justifications for the chosen\n architectural solutions, ensuring stakeholders understand how these\n contribute to the business’s goals and operations.
Training\n and Advocacy: Educate local teams on the importance of following\n corporate architecture guidelines, offering guidance and solutions where\n necessary.
4. Influence Corporate IT:
Communicate\n Local Needs to Global IT: Advocate for China-specific business needs\n and constraints within corporate IT. Influence global IT leaders to\n consider regional variances and adjust standards where appropriate.
Negotiate\n Flexibility: Work with corporate IT and senior leadership to strike a\n balance between enforcing enterprise standards and accommodating the\n unique requirements of the China market.
5. Technical Leadership:
Technical\n Roadmap Development: Contribute to the design and planning of the\n overall IT architecture and infrastructure roadmap, factoring in both\n global objectives and local challenges.
Solution\n Design: Lead and participate in the design of complex, scalable\n application architectures, ensuring compliance with global standards while\n optimizing for local market needs.
Innovation\n and Adaptation: Keep abreast of emerging technologies and trends\n within China, ensuring the local IT environment is innovative and\n competitive while remaining aligned with global enterprise strategies.YOU MUST HAVE
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum 8-10 years of experience in application architecture, solution design, and enterprise architecture roles, with a proven track record in large-scale, complex IT environments.
Relevant certifications in enterprise architecture (e.g., TOGAF, Zachman), cloud or application technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure, Salesforce), or other industry-standard certifications are preferred.
Excellent written and oral communication skills in both Mandarin and English
Strong understanding of cybersecurity, data protection regulations (especially China-specific laws such as the Personal Information Protection Law), and compliance.
Demonstrated experience in aligning IT solutions with business objectives and enforce enterprise IT standards in a multinational context
Good technical understanding of enterprise application platforms like SAP ERP, Salesforce CRM, Adobe Marketo, SAP Commerce, etc.
