Chubb Life: Procurement & Sourcing Lead

This position will take the lead in establishing a robust and effective procurement function across Chubb Life Globally but with the focus on the APAC region.  To be successful this the role will engage with leadership teams and procurement/purchasing people in each market, and with the regional/global teams.  The role will deliver expense reductions/spend optimisation, support local market teams with specific procurement engagements, and coach/mentor the procurement people across the region.

The role will also integrate into the global Chubb Procurement organization and will be responsible for ensuring that Life’s sourcing and purchasing activities follow Chubb’s standards and practices.

To ensure success in this role, the person should demonstrate mastery of negotiation strategies and have had extensive experience in a similar role. 

This role reports to the COO, with a matrix line to the Global Procurement team.

Primary Responsibilities

Build a team of procurement, purchasing, and vendor management resources in markets across APAC.  Identify people already conducting procurement activities, understand how R&Rs are structured in each market, and identify changes required to align with the Chubb global operating model. Monitor routine purchasing activities across the region to ensure the business’ needs are fulfilled smoothly and in a timely manner Coach and mentor procurement staff in each market to ensure that we have appropriately skilled people in place Identify where we are spending today, opportunities to leverage Chubb’s scale, and set up regional arrangements where there is value in doing so.  Work with local and regional Legal, Finance, and business functions to establish relationships with key vendors.  Take the lead in negotiations to establish commercial terms that deliver value to Chubb. Responsible for development of strategic sourcing opportunities pipeline through the introduction of a competitive marketplace, demand management, supplier consolidation, and process reengineering Where appropriate, establish and lead project teams throughout a full strategic sourcing cycle, including vendor identification and selection, price negotiation, and contract “red lining” in collaboration with Legal counterparts for MSA’s, Schedules, SOW’s, etc. Local advocacy and coordination of global and multi-regional Sourcing engagements led directly or by other members of the global Strategic Sourcing department Develop Category plans and manage or participate in highly complex, high value Sourcing engagements of varying spend, risk, and complexity levels within the following Sourcing categories:  Desktop and Enterprise Software; Third-Party Software Asset Management and other related services; Application Development; Contingency and Retained Recruitment; Relocation Services; Audit, Tax and Treasury Services; R Capital Equipment and Facilities Services, Management Consulting; Temporary Labor, Information Technology and Business Outsourcing; IT Network Infrastructure; IT Security; Information Technology Advisory and Outsourcing; Telecommunications, Mainframe and others Demonstrate high degree of reporting proficiency regarding project approach, scope, key issues, status, business requirements, and relevant dependencies Engage with an influence key business leaders (including CP’s, CFO’s etc) Bachelor's degree in business, economics, finance, logistics, or in a related field Minimum of 10 years’ procurement experience in a related or equally complex industry World class organizational and time management skills World class analysis and analytical skills including ability to use data to drive decision making Leading problem solving and troubleshooting skills with the ability to exercise mature judgment Proven ability to lead, motivate and gain commitment from executive leadership, senior management, direct/indirect reports, and colleagues Exceptional ability to influence stakeholders and drive groups with divergent opinions toward effective, collaborative decisions Best-in-class supplier relationship and conflict management skills Leading oral and written communications and influencing skills Ability to effectively summarize program status and create PowerPoint presentations for executive audiences Able to navigate a global matrixed organization, influence stakeholders and affect outcomes.
