Job Overview
We are looking for a Department Head (Circle Lead) for Financial Risk that will be part of the Risk Services management team. The role will report hierarchically to the Senior Department Head (Super Circle Lead) of Risk Services of ING Hubs Philippines.
As a Department Head, you will be responsible to lead and manage various teams that support ING Business Partners for a wide range of financial risk services, which include but not limited to limits and exposure management, and asset and liability management.
Key Responsibilities
You deliver operations according to agreed service levels, while continuously looking for ways to improve, to further optimize the sourcing strategy, and to further drive employee engagement and diversity.
Leadership and Direction - Communicate the actions needed to implement the Global Risk Services strategy for your Circle; manage a team of juniors and experts with the primary role of delivering financial risk services to other ING entities; Create high-performing teams, remove impediments for the delivery of the service, and effectively manage issues or escalations, if any, and facilitates, supports, and motivates employees within the circle
Stakeholder Engagement - Identify and manage stakeholders, finding out their needs/issues/concerns and effectively responding to these to support communication and derive at well-informed decisions; ensure that stakeholder relationships are well-managed, and act as the point of contact for other stakeholders (e.g. support teams, key control testing, and regulatory audits)
Performance Management - Manage and report on performance within the department or area of responsibility; set appropriate performance objectives for direct reports and hold them accountable for achieving these; take appropriate corrective action where necessary to ensure the achievement of annual business objectives.
Functional Strategic Formation - Contribute to the formation of a key element of functional strategy through specialist expertise and insights, to ensure that the strategy meets business needs; drive these strategic priorities; translate these into executable plans and actions, and steer on the implementation of strategic changes for the organizational unit, whether at team level or circle level.
Operational Compliance - Accountable for executing risk & control compliance and mitigation of business and operational risks; ensures regulatory compliance across the circle; Monitor and review performance and behaviors within area of responsibility to identify and resolve non-compliance with the organization's policies and relevant regulatory codes and codes of conduct.
Organizational capability building - Identify the team's individual development needs. Plan and implement actions, including continuing professional development to build their professional capabilities. Coach and mentor the people in your line of responsibility to support the development of the Global Risk Services talent pool.
Continuous Improvement - Transform services to become more efficient to generate savings for the domain; Identify synergies within the teams in Risk Services and drive transformation for the scalability of services in scope
Key Capabilities/Experience
Expertise in financial risk areas, specifically market risk and credit risk
Knowledge of financial risk reports and relevant financial risk regulations in Europe, such as Basel IV
Expertise in developing high – performing teams and empowering teams to act autonomously and holding them accountable
Has strong communication skills and (international) stakeholder management skills
Exhibits assertiveness and can drive discussions to produce visible outcomes
Has relevant experience in (complex) Project Management; proven track record in continuous improvement and change management
Has the ability to display flexibility to teams and adapt plan, approach and behavior to the different needs, cultures and situations
Is a self-starter and can think and plan, proactive in identifying problems or strategies to improve the business, culture and systems
Experience with steering on output
Can manage multiple clients and used to work with tight deadlines
Is result-driven and able to push things forward in a persistent way
Is well organized, pro-active and hands-on to deliver high quality output and services
Is analytical, autonomous, adaptive and flexible to turn problems into workable solutions.
Has the ability to navigate and manage complexities and build network for collaboration
Minimum Qualifications
Strong and In-depth knowledge of financial risk services (e.g. market risk, credit risk), especially in limits and exposure management, and asset and liability management;
5+ years work experience in financial industry;
3+ years work experience as a people manager in a global operation and in a service delivery organization, and with experience in handling at least 15-20 people
2+ years experience in managing a large team with diverse backgrounds is preferred
Excellent in stakeholder management
Fluent in written and spoken English
Willing to work in One Ayala Tower, Makati City
Willing to work in a hybrid setup (50% onsite)
Willing to work mid-shift (when needed)
