Job Title: Circuit Board Design Engineer

Duration: 6m with possible extension

Work Location: Hybrid - 1-2 day WFH, 3 days in Simi Valley

Our client that has delivered the vast majority of all unmanned aircrafts in the US DoD inventory is looking to add an experienced Circuit Board Design Engineer III. The Circuit Board Design Engineer III will have the opportunity to develop a variety of innovative unmanned robotic systems for defense and commercial applications. These development efforts will generally be small, focused design teams which will require an experienced Design engineer to use skills and design tools in support of complex PCBs.

Position Responsibilities:

Complete development of CAD layout including symbol creation,floor planning, component placement, constraints management androutingResponsible for the design releases requiring the generation ofartwork files, ODB+, fabrication and assembly drawings, andelectronic PCB documentationTrouble-shoots PCB basic functionality.Determine layer stack up, perform component package selection, component placement, routing feasibility studies, and signal routing of digital, analog, RF and power conversion of printed circuit boards (PCB)Interface with Manufacturing to produce designs that meet DFM guidelinesLibrary creation and maintenanceCreate and release documentation for fabrication of PCBsCollaborate with internal teams and PCB vendors to continually improve design rules, constraints and design for test and manufacture guidelinesUtilize PCB design tools, maintain and evaluate new tools, and train team members to use toolsDocument work and assist with the transition of new capabilities, technologies and prototypes into a production development environment.Other duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience):

5+ years' experience with Altium Designer (Version 19 or higher)BS degree in Electrical EngineeringKnowledge of IPC standardsFamiliarity working with common protocols such as RS-485, RS-232, CAN, I2C, SPI, USB.Demonstrated ability to trouble-shoot complex systems with oscilloscope.Experience working closely with PCB fabricators prior to design releaseExperience in RF circuit layoutKnowledge of types and manufacturers of dielectric materialsExperience designing multilayer stack ups (up to 14 layers)Proficient in high-density/high-speed designProficient with signal integrity design techniquesExperience with low noise design and minimization of EMI/EMCMust be a team player, collaborates effectively, with a can-do attitude.Familiarity with office software and computer-based productivity tools.Must be willing to work on government contracts and ability to obtain a security clearance.Able to excel in a fast paced, deadline-driven environment.Has respect for profit and strives to meet project schedule and budget.

Other Qualifications & Desired Competencies:

Master's degree preferred.BS degree in Electrical EngineeringIPC CID, CID+ certification a plusHands on design/build experience is desired; UAV or R/C aircraft or other lightweight miniature robotic systems.Able to excel in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, where small teams share a broad variety of dutiesDisplays strong initiative and drive to accomplish goals and meet company objectivesTakes ownership and responsibility for current and past work productsIs committed to learning from mistakes and driven to improve and enhance performance of oneself, others, and the companyFocuses on teamwork and puts the success of the team above one's own interests

Physical Demands:
