$86,650.99 - $134,309.04Cisco Network Engineers are responsible for the design and physical construction of the enterprise network, whether it is for computer communications or telecommunications. This includes the placement of all of the physical equipment such as routers, communication switches and all of the cables and wires used to connect the equipment. Cisco Network Engineers are also in charge of any electronic equipment used to activate each piece of equipment. Some devices, such as a communications multiplexer, require electronic cards to operate. A Cisco Network Engineer is responsible for making sure these cards are ordered and available to activate the equipment on time. The Cisco Network Engineer will also be skilled in voice and wireless architectures.Level IV
The Cisco Network Engineer – Level IV will:
Lead in the overall design of Albany Med’s corporate enterprise network;Mentor Cisco Network Engineer – Levels I, II and III to assemble, build and configure network hardware to pre-established design standards and complete associated documentationPropose and implement system enhancements (software and hardware updates) that will improve the performance and reliability of the system;Develop and evolve security policies for the corporate networkSupport and administration of firewall environments in line with IT security policyUpdate job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks and participating in professional organizations; and obtaining Cisco certificationsDevelop a reporting strategy and process for network operational statusLead the upgrade for data network equipment to latest stable firmware releasesDefine the standard for configurations to routing and switching equipment, hosted IP voice services and firewallsProvide remote support of on-site engineers and end users/customers during installationProvide remote troubleshooting and fault finding if issues occur upon initial installationBe responsible for system maintenance of network/internet/intranet hardware.Be proactive…look upstream and downstreamBe expected to support customers on a daily basis. Customer responsibilities include:Act as a liaison between customer and vendor to solve software/hardware problemsParticipate in the help desk environment with regard to problem identification, logging and resolutionProvide education for customers with regard to Albany Med’s networkProvide offsite support of remote customersAssist in configuration and installation of all network peripherals
Supervision
Oversee and monitor work of Cisco Network Engineer – Levels I, II and IIIContact with others
Primary contacts will be internal to Information TechnologyContact with other Albany Med departments will be moderate and in support of job specific activities or in the supervision of projects - potentially lead and/or facilitate conversations with customers on requirements. Be able to present solutions and findings to customers and executivesContact with vendors will be expected in support of problem resolution or future product functionality - may engage in product development strategy discussionsContact with others outside Albany Med will consist of engagement in job specific forums/organizations for technical collaboration, as well as an expectation to collaborate with other health care organizations for best practices and knowledge sharingOther
