Job Summary The Civil Construction Estimator at MasTec in Austin, Texas is responsible for assisting with the administrative function of current projects by analyzing blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare material and subcontractor take-offs for bid projects. This position supports Project teams and works with vendors as well as personnel from other departments. Responsibilities Prepare accurate take-of materials, subcontracting, and production items for projects. Acquire plans for projects. Bid accurately using Bid2Win software Prepare and deliver bids. Prepare subcontracts and purchase orders for projects. Assist operations in administrative duties on projects. Furnish bid information for tracking purposes, follow bid process, and work on improving bid process. Prepare job files for operations. Keep job log up-to-date. Perform other duties as required and/or assigned. Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent. Experience and Proficiency with Bid2Win Software Knowledge of methods and specifications in the utility construction field. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Excellent organizational and communication skills, business management skills, and have general knowledge of OSHA regulations. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications. Preferred Previous utility construction project estimator experience. Ability to use Bid2Win software efficiently and proficiently Physical Demands and Work Environment This job operates in a field environment. This role routinely requires extended periods of bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, lifting in awkward positions, standing, and twisting. Also, working in inclement weather conditions, such as extreme heat, extreme cold, rain, ice, snow, and wind. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. This position is physically active, with lifting required. Must be able to bend and lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Clarity of vision at 20 feet or more or 20 inches or less, with the ability to judge distance and space relationships. Precise hand-eye coordination. Ability to identify and distinguish colors.
