The Civil Construction Services Inspector will be part of an established Project Management Office within the PDS Division that provides consulting services to both public-owned and investor-owned electric utilities. These consulting services provide clients with overall project management tasks in the areas of comprehensive engineering design of electrical transmission and distribution, substation and transmission line projects nationwide.
This position is responsible for inspecting and monitoring the work of contractors on various construction sites across the state of Georgia performing civil grading, foundation installation, silvicultural / initial clearing activities, geotechnical drilling & testing, counterpoise, and environmental compliance on Power Delivery Construction Projects for Georgia Power. Candidate should have working knowledge of construction project standards including excavation best practices, various foundation types, concrete & asphalt work, soil & concrete testing, ACI & ASTM standards, construction surveying, USACE Standards, & NPDES GAR 100002 permitting. Applicant shall be fluent with reading, interpreting, and - implementing civil design drawings, especially in the areas of topographical cut/fill, erosion control, and construction layout. Candidate must ensure that work is completed safely and that it stays in compliance with industry specifications and environmental regulations. Applicant must be able to appropriately articulate these activities to property owners, engineers, project managers, and other GPC staff and represent the company in a professional manner. This position is based in Forest Park, GA, but will involve considerable statewide travel & routine overnight stays throughout the state of Georgia.

Take responsibility for safety and be a mentor on safety rules and work practicesAttend contractor and/or company Job Safety Briefing’s for daily hazard analysisAddress and report any safety incidents immediately to supervisionMonitor activities of multiple contract personnel on capital projects to ensure quality of workCall in and hold Hot Line Tags and Clearance RequestsVerify materials for projects installed by contract personnel are correct and accounted forKeep and complete a daily log and/or weekly update reportAudit and approve timesheets, pay applications, and invoices in a timely mannerComplete Quality Value Analysis (QVA) on every project either monthly, at milestones or at the end of the projectVerify that all locates have been called in per proper Georgia 811 procedureVerify that all work complies with civil design drawings and/or specificationsReport status of projects back to coordinatorEnsure documentation of time for personnel and equipment is correct when submitted for paymentDistinguish differences between Georgia Power Company safety rules and contractor safety rulesAssist with verifying quantities, scheduling and material deliveriesMust be available to work assigned storm duty, which could include evenings, weekends, holidays and overnight travelBackground Requirements:
10+ years of related field experience in construction projects with a civil emphasisAssociates or bachelor's degree in related will be preferred, but not requiredDemonstrated, progressive experience with fixed site development including clearing, grading, installation of utilities, erosion control, environmental compliance, construction inspection and oversight, contract administrationAbility to demonstrate Proficient knowledge of Civil Construction methods and industry standards;Working knowledge of civil construction methods and standards as it relates to grading and excavation, structural concrete, & surveyingKnowledge of excavation safety best practicesAbility to plan and monitor multiple projectsWorking knowledge of contract administration as it relates to monitoring civil contractor construction activitiesTravel will be required, so candidates must possess a valid U.S. driver's license (Job related travel will be reimbursed at IRS approved rates)PDSPM

Pay Range:Pay Range $89,700.00 - $162,150.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary.
