Civil Design Engineer

We are seeking a Staff Civil Engineer to join our team on a full-time, direct basis at our office in Chantilly, VA.  This role offers a chance to work on a diverse range of public & private site development projects, providing an exciting opportunity to contribute to impactful work!

 

In this role, you’ll be expected to handle a diverse array of responsibilities (tailored to your skill set).  These design / planning tasks may include (but are not limited to) Hydrologic and Hydraulic [H&H] modeling, Stormwater Management [SWM], drainage, erosion control, plan & code reviews, feasibility studies, permitting, and report preparation.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

Contribute to multi-discipline projects with a variety of clients. Assist with preparation of site development drawings using AutoCAD Civil 3D while transforming land survey data into comprehensive site plans (that adhere to municipal regulations). Design of site layout, removals, grading, utilities, etc. Design SWM plans:  H&H modeling, Erosion and Sediment Control [E&SC], relevant design calculations, etc. Process land development application(s) through regulatory approval. Engage with clients & regulatory agencies to ensure effective communication and collaboration. Assist with mentoring junior-level staff. Assist with field inspections, as needed. Additional tasks may be assigned, as needed.

 

 

Basic Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (or a related technical discipline). At least 4 years of professional experience working in Civil Engineering (preferably with Land Development and/or Site Design projects).

 

Preferred Qualifications:

Professional Engineer; active PE in VA is preferred. Experience working on brownfield (land redevelopment) as well as greenfield projects. Experience with designing SWM plans; proficiency with H&H modeling tools (e.g.: HydroCAD, Hydraflow, etc.) is preferred. Proficiency with engineering / CADD tools (e.g.: AutoCAD Civil 3D, etc.). Experience working with regulatory agencies. Experience with preparing and processing land development applications. Proficiency on basic office software applications, especially Microsoft Office 365. Excellent organizational skills, especially with a proven ability to work in an energetic, challenging, and team-oriented work environment. Excellent communication skills (verbal & written).
