Lead significant portions of a variety of facilities throughout the cycle of design and construction, and startup phases as a technical specialist or lead. Perform hands-on involvement to develop reports or technical memos, complete studies, detailed designs, and specifications, collaborate to complete cost estimates, and prepare contract documents. Participate in scheduling, budgeting, and contract administration for infrastructure projects is also part of the role, including involvement in business development and preparation of proposals. Coordinate with all other internal/external team members on moderately complex projects. Assist with identification of key client interests and drivers on less complex projects. Communicate client interests and drivers to project team members and develop approaches to accommodate these concerns in the performance of the work on less complex projects. Perform design of projects from the conceptual and bid phase through design completion for project needs and requirements that are set by the project managers based off client needs. Assist the Engineering Manager to maintain project schedules and budgets, manage sub-consultants, and interface directly with the client or sub­consultants. Support business development through writing of technical approaches, scopes of work, and presentation to clients. Utilize knowledge of regularly used civil concepts, practices, codes, and procedures within the water engineering industry. Find and develop non-standard design solutions to better serve clients project specifications. Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to less experienced engineers. No hire/fire authority. In the alternative, the employer will accept a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related discipline, plus at least five years of related experience. Must have experience performing hydraulic calculations, water, and wastewater treatment design. Must have experience leading significant portions of a variety of facilities throughout the cycle of design and construction, and startup phases. Must have experience with reports or technical memos, studies, detailed designs, specifications, cost estimates, and contract documents. National or regional travel requirement up to 10% of the time. Telecommuting 2-3 days per week is permitted within a reasonable commuting distance from the employer’s Phoenix, Arizona office. Must have good written and verbal communications skills in English.
