Civil Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Civil Engineer – Power Delivery / Substation Site Design professional to support complex infrastructure projects within the energy and utilities sector. This role focuses on civil-site engineering for substations and power delivery facilities, requiring strong technical judgment, client interaction, and the ability to work independently on complex engineering challenges. The ideal candidate will bring a solid foundation in civil engineering design, regulatory compliance, and cross-functional collaboration.
Key responsibilities include:Identify, analyze, and resolve complex engineering, technical, and design challenges related to power delivery and substation civil-site projectsPlan, organize, estimate, schedule, and monitor engineering work activitiesPrepare accurate and timely technical reports, calculations, sketches, and project documentationDevelop and produce substation civil-site drawing packages using industry standards and best practicesMonitor project deliverables and schedules, presenting solutions and recommendations to clientsInteract regularly with client engineers and technical stakeholdersBuild and maintain strong professional relationships with customersChampion company objectives and represent the organization in a professional mannerMentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership across disciplinesSupport continuous improvement of engineering processes, tools, and professional knowledgePerform additional duties as assigned by management
Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution3–5 years of professional engineering experienceProfessional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain licensure within one yearStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to work independently with minimal supervision while contributing effectively within a teamExperience preparing and reviewing technical documentation and engineering calculationsStrong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving capabilities
Desired experience and skills:Project coordination and task management experienceAbility to think creatively and logically to resolve design challengesSupport proposal development and contract review effortsExperience with site due diligence, feasibility studies, and regulatory permittingPreparation of conceptual and detailed site plans, grading, drainage, erosion control, and stormwater management plansKnowledge of local, state, and federal regulatory requirementsExperience obtaining permits and coordinating with regulatory agenciesField experience supporting construction activities and resolving design issuesFamiliarity with NPDES, SWPPP, and construction compliance requirementsProficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and related design tools; experience with GIS and engineering analysis software is a plus
Work environment and physical considerations:Combination of office-based work with occasional site visitsModerate noise environment typical of professional office settingsOccasional exposure to outdoor weather conditions and electrical risk during site visitsAbility to perform tasks requiring manual dexterity and standard physical activity associated with engineering fieldwork
