Salary: $130-150k per year The Civil Engineer provides design services for high voltage electric facilities, focusing on Substation and Transmission Engineering projects. This role involves collaborating with various project leads, client engineers, construction managers, and external vendors, including those specializing in surveying, geotechnical engineering, equipment, and structures. Responsibilities Design Development: Collaborate with the project team to create and update civil site development design documents, ensuring alignment with project-specific standards and efficient design practices. Site Drawings: Develop/Review detailed site development drawings, including site grading, drainage, and surveys, using engineering software. Engineering Application: Apply engineering software tools for site grading, foundation design, drainage design, and site surveys to support project requirements. Coordination: Communicate and coordinate with customer representatives, project team members, and management to ensure smooth project execution. Standards Compliance: Ensure designs adhere to engineering standards including NESC, IEEE, ANSI, AISC, and ACI. Utilize the document management system effectively. Quality Assurance: Take responsibility for the accuracy and quality of your work. Address any design issues or improvements as necessary. Additional Duties: Perform other tasks as needed to support project and departmental objectives. Travel: Undertake short-term travel as required by project assignments. Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s degree in civil/Geotechnical Engineering from an accredited university, or an equivalent degree with relevant experience. Experience: Minimum of 5 years of direct experience in civil engineering (T-Line and/or Substations). Skills and Knowledge: Problem Solving Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously. Technical Expertise: Understanding of foundations design (drilled piers, micro piles, helical, etc.), geotechnical reports, soil erosion/sediment control, stormwater modeling, for electrical substations and transmission line components. Design Experience: Proficiency in site design, grading, drainage, stormwater management, land easements, surveying, and earthwork, particularly in greenfield or expansion projects for electrical substations and/or transmission lines. Software Proficiency: Knowledge of engineering software, with experience in AutoCAD Civil 3D, CAISSON, LPILE, FAD, SHAFT, Heli-Cap, or similar tools preferred. Standards Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of engineering standards such as NESC, IEEE, ANSI, AISC, and ACI. Documentation: Understanding of site/civil design documents and drawings necessary for electrical substation projects and transmission lines Communication Skills: Effective communication with team members, vendors, and clients. Proficiency in common word processing, spreadsheet, and email software.
