About You and this Role

Dow has an exciting opportunity for a Civil Engineer located in Seadrift (TX).

You will serve as a technical resource to support project teams and/or provide expertise in specific fields, tools or theory. You will provide solutions which add value through improvement in work process, unit operations, operating condition and/or process technology. Additionally, you will support projects, or portions of the process design within significantly large capital projects. You have a strong technical knowledge base and require minimal supervision.  You focus on safety in your designs and when on project sites.

Responsibilities

Develop civil engineering project scope and prepare documents for bid and constructionOversee document preparation with designersPerform engineering analysisSupport construction activities with design clarifications or technical supportServe in a technical capacity to provide solutions to complex engineering problems within the Civil / Structural discipline.Support project teams and troubleshooting requests from manufacturing plants.Collaborate and coordinate designs with multiple engineering disciplines (e.g. mechanical, electrical process, instrument and piping) to support project deliverables.Design foundations for heavy process structures and equipment, dynamic and rotating equipment.Design structural steel open process structures, pipe racks, modifications to existing facilities, and modular structure.

In the inspector and engineer capacity:

Ensure drawings and specifications are clear and meet the needs of the business.Ensure reviews are completed on time and that drawings and specifications are followed by fabricators, constructors and maintenance contractors, when providing inspection.

In the project lead capacity:

Serve as the leader of the project within their discipline. Have accountability for project results and for the implementation of and adherence to all relevant work processes and best practices.Drive front end loading to ensure clear scope definition along with establishing plans and schedules to enable adequate control during execution.Direct activities within their discipline and coordinates activities with other disciplines.Lead the completion of deliverables provided to estimating and reviews output of the estimate to ensure accurate reflection of scope.Ensure their deliverables meet the needs of the project including functioning as intended, on time and within budget.Lead technical contract package development and supports implementation.Drive value engineering and economic designs to ensure the best value is delivered to the business.Use and enforce project change management program.Ensure safety in design.

Qualifications

A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering.A minimum of 3 years relevant experience.Ability to work comfortably and safely at elevated heights. Candidates must be familiar with, or willing to undergo training in, the proper usage and maintenance of safety equipment to ensure safe movement and operations at heights.A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States.  No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

Preferred Skills

Civil Engineering: 5 or more years of civil/structural engineering work experience.Design: Experience in structural systems, design of industrial steel buildings, masonry structures, pipe racks/pipe bridges, shallow/deep foundations, and construction practices.Operations: Prior experience working in a refinery / petrochemical, oil & gas or power industry.Project Management: Knowledge and understanding of engineering, construction, and project management.Software Platforms: Experience with structural analysis software.Engineering Principles: Ability to perform and review complex calculations and studies (steel structures, concrete foundations, etc.)
