Overview Provides a mix of field, administrative, design, and management duties for the development of engineering skills. Assists in the development, design, and implementation of projects for the construction of individual and community water, wastewater, and solid waste facilities, roads, bridges, parking, and drainage structures within the boundaries of the Cherokee Nation Reservation. Qualifications EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT Bachelor's degree from 4-year college or university in Civil or Environmental Engineering from an Accreditation Board for Engineering Technologies school; no substitutions. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT No additional experience. COMPUTER SKILLS An individual should have knowledge of Database software; Design software; Internet software; Spreadsheet software, and Word Processing software. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Must possess a valid driver's license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting rating. Must possess or must be able to obtain certification as an "Engineer-In-Training" within one year of employment. OTHER QUALIFICATIONS The employee must not be and will not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or by the General Services Administration (GSA) or listed on the OIG's Cumulative Sanction Report, or the GSA's List of Excluded Providers, or listed on the OIG's List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE). A working knowledge of Computer-Aided Drafting (CAD), land surveying principles and practice, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and an understanding of fluid mechanics, preferred. PHYSICAL DEMANDS While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently required to walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, feel; talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, taste or smell. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move 25 to more than 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to correct/adjust focus. WORK ENVIRONMENT While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently exposed to outdoor weather conditions and working near moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, work in high precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold/heat (non-weather), risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
