Civil Engineer II, Water/Wastewater - Remote, US

We recognize the importance of creating a work environment that is both rewarding to our employees and supportive of our unwavering commitment to provide unparalleled service to our clients. **Purpose** Evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria on moderately complex projects. **Responsibilities** **Leadership and Direction** + Receive general instruction on key objectives for execution. Receive direction as needed, and especially complex assignments, modified techniques, and new approaches on assignments with conflicting criteria. Work is completed using advanced engineering techniques and design principles and is reviewed by more senior staff to ensure application of sound professional judgement. Review work produced by junior staff for quality assurance. **At the Operational and Company Level** + May assist senior level staff or management with clients and agencies; subcontractors, and design teams on moderately complex project issues **Do the Work** + Water and wastewater treatment design and permitting. + Water and wastewater conveyance and pipeline design. + Water modeling. + Construction plan generation (AutoCAD, Civil 3D and Plant 3D design). + Grant writing assistance. + Writing technical reports and completing process calculations. + Assisting experienced engineers with various components of the design, bidding, and construction process. + Make design recommendations, adaptations, and modifications. + Work with senior level engineers; clients and agencies; subcontractors; and design teams on moderately complex project issues + Evaluate, select and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria on moderately complex projects + Plan, schedule, conduct, and/or coordinate detailed phases of assigned project work. + Complete design work using computer aided software. + Prepare reports and correspondence concerning the direction of assigned projects. + Work closely with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects. + Review plans and prepare or review technical specifications, contract documents, and estimates. + Assist in training and assigning work to junior engineers. + Work side by side with the project team on your specialty in water/wastewater projects to improve water resources of our communities. **Success Metrics and Competencies** + Ability to work both independently and within a team environment. + Highly motivated and problem-solving attitude. + Strong sense of urgency in responding to constituents. + Effective verbal and written communication skills. + Strong work ethic and commitment to quality. + Self-reliance and ability to operate independently with limited direction. + Strong marketing/business development skills and mindset. + Effective working relationship with internal leaders and peers, as well as external clients. **Qualifications** + Bachelor's degree in civil, environmental, or mechanical engineering or related field required at time of employment. + Three or more (3+) years of experience in water/wastewater engineering or related projects. + EIT Certification required; PE eligibility preferred. + Experience with computer applications and design software. + Familiarity with reading construction plans. + Experience with water/wastewater systems, water treatment, water distribution, pump stations and operations. + Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). + Experience with software such as AutoCAD, Civil3D, hydraulic modeling. **Physical Demands and Working Environment** + Partly indoor professional office environment which may include bright/dim light, noise, fumes, odors, and traffic. + Mobility around an office environment. + Frequent and prolonged use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. + Partly outdoor work environment which may include adverse weather conditions, varying temperatures, excessive noise, and/or potential hazards. + Mobility around a job/construction site to include walking, bending, crawling, climbing, squatting, or kneeling and wearing of required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). + Frequent and prolonged use of data collection equipment and/or drones, necessitating walking the assigned study area to complete data collection over the course of several hours. + Primarily local travel during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be required according to the needs of the business. + Occasional lifting or carrying up to 20 pounds. + Occasional pushing or pulling up to 20 pounds. + Occasional reaching outward or above shoulder. Salary and eligible variable compensation (if any) commensurate with experience.
