**Job Description**
The Civil Engineer is responsible for a variety of Civil Engineering projects focused on transportation, water, wastewater, and civil site in both rural and urban Alaska.
**Responsibilities**
+ Participate in marketing, writing proposals, winning work, and developing and maintaining client relationships.
+ Initiate, plan, execute, and close small to large size civil infrastructure projects.
+ Perform design tasks and/or lead a design team on various civil infrastructure projects, including roads, water, wastewater, stormwater, and site civil.
+ Coordinate the work of a design team and outside consultants to develop Plans, Specifications and Estimate packages for multiple projects and a variety of clients.
+ Establish and maintain client relationships; ensure client satisfaction; ensure client objectives are met
+ Train and mentor young professionals
+ This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
+ Other duties that are pertinent to the department or unit’s success also may be assigned.
**Qualifications**
+ Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering required.
+ Alaska Professional Engineer registration required.
+ Minimum of eight (8) years’ engineering experience required, with a background in water and sewer design preferred.
+ Experience working with State of Alaksa Village Safe Water, Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium, and/or USDA Rural Development preferred.
+ A minimum of three years of experience managing small or large projects and professional staff required.
+ Solid understanding of civil design and construction standards, and environmental conditions and constraints.
+ Proven history of meeting project deadlines and budgets.
+ Demonstrated skills developing relationships with municipal and state agencies in support of transportation and/or site civil projects.
+ Experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D and MS software applications.
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills with clients, staff and management.
+ Adaptability and ability to respond quickly and accurately under pressure.
+ A valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record for the past three (3) years to be eligible under company vehicle insurance policy.
**Working Conditions and Physical Requirements**
Weather: Indoors - environmentally controlled; requires most or all work to be done inside.
Noise level: The noise level in the work environment is usually that of a standard office atmosphere.
Description of environment: Office building with standard office environment.
Physical requirements: Employee is required to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands/fingers to handle or feel, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk/hear, see, taste/smell, and carry weight/lift.
Travel: Employee may travel up to 25% to various locations within the U.S. and/or remote locations and may be required to use alternative modes of transportation, including but not limited to snow machines, boats, small airplanes and ATVs.
