KPFF’s Civil Team is looking for motivated and engaged civil engineering students between their Junior and Senior year for a summer internship with our Seattle Civil Team. You will work within a fun, dynamic, and diverse team and will have the opportunity to engage on projects from the beginning planning stages through construction documents, and during construction. Project types vary from site development to utility infrastructure to regional stormwater facilities in the Pacific Northwest and beyond.
A summer internship with our Seattle Civil team is offered at 40 hours a week for a 12-week period, depending on the candidate’s availability. A majority of our work is performed in our office setting however our summer interns will have the opportunity to visit a number of project locations at various stages of project design and construction. Site visits may involve walking, standing, or navigating uneven terrain.
When interning with us, you will go beyond getting a glimpse into your future career as a civil engineer. We will integrate you into our teams and we are excited to share our professional experience with you as we work on projects together. You will help solve real design problems and help complete active project work. Job responsibilities will vary depending on team, project, and each individual intern’s interests. Qualifications and Skills
· Current enrollment in a BSCE program
· Completion of junior year by the start of the 2025 Summer Internship
· Basic knowledge of engineering fundamentals
· Effective written and verbal communication
· Ability to work collaboratively within a project team
· Strong technical and organizational abilities
· General understanding of AutoCAD and Civil 3D
· Desire for continued learning
Opportunities and Responsibilities
Alongside and with the supervision of your teammates, you will:
· Travel to project sites to observe existing conditions.
· Research jurisdictional codes and manuals to determine design requirements.
· Participate in brainstorming sessions about sustainable civil engineering solutions.
· Perform calculations to support the design of stormwater conveyance, water quality, flow control, and green stormwater systems.
· Perform vehicular turning studies using Vehicle Tracking software programs.
· Prepare exhibits for inclusion with reports and/or presentations.
· Prepare drafts of drainage reports and feasibility studies.
· Work with CAD staff to develop exhibits and progress design plans.
· Attend site visits to observe construction of the systems we design.

Compensation
Hourly salary for this position is expected to be $25 per hour, pending candidate’s qualifications.
