Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Civil Engineering Lead for one of our offices in Sacramento, CA.

SUMMARY:

The Civil Engineering Lead directs and manages the tasks associated with civil design criteria development, special technical studies, final design and construction support, preliminary engineering support, and procurement engineering support. The Civil Engineering Lead coordinates with Structural, Seismic, Geotechnical, Surveying, and Tunneling leads and relevant branches and stakeholders to update the civil engineering design related chapters for future procurement reference. The Civil Engineering Lead provides technical review and support to the various projects including preliminary engineering, detail designs, and constructions.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Directs and contributes to Civil Design Criteria development for Civil related subjects such as railway embankments, roads, drainage, grading, utilities, etc.Provides technical support with planning, permitting, environmental and ROW investigationsAssesses studies to support design criteria development, third party agreements, and others as necessaryAssist in the development of scope, delivery schedule and cost estimates related to civil engineeringMonitors progress and schedule of deliverablesCoordinates with Project Construction Management (PCM) and System Assurance team to ensure the required design and review procedures, V&V process, and system interfaced requirements specified in GP and PCM manual are followedSupervises the team to perform the review for civil technical contract submittalsAssists in response of Requests for Information (RFIs) and Design Variance Requests (DVRs)Provides updates of design requirements and technical documents to support the preliminary designs for obtaining approval of environmental clearance application.Performs review of the preliminary and detail design submittals, facilities, and stationsAssists in the development of Standard Special Provisions to the standard specifications

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

BA/BS + 8 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

Licensed Professional Civil Engineer in CaliforniaProven experience in utility relocation, California State Contracting Manual, Caltrans Chapter 13 Utility Relocation Manual, Federal Statutes, California State StatuesStrong project and construction management backgroundFamiliar with railway projects and disciplinesProven experience of and ability to apply engineering judgment in areas of design and construction engineering on transportation projectsWorking relationships with management, consultants, private sector contractors, subcontractors and suppliers, and their associationsExperience in preparing civil engineering specification
