The construction of a new salmon enhancement facility in the Upper Fraser watershed is a core initiative of the Pacific Salmon Strategy Initiative (PSSI) which aims to fill a critical infrastructure gap in the region to address conservation and rebuilding priorities for Chinook and Sockeye salmon. HDR is supporting the Department of Fisheries and Oceans with the engineering of this new facility on the shores of the Nechako River in Prince George. Preliminary construction is scheduled to begin in 2025 and HDR is looking for a summer co-op to support on-site monitoring and documenting the construction activities.

In the role of Civil/Environmental Engineering Co-op, we'll count on you to:

Be on-site to monitor, report and document progress during construction activitiesOffer real-world experience on exciting projectsConnect with our company leaders through mentoring and young professionals’ programsApply standard engineering techniques and proceduresPerform assignments under the direct supervision of a professional or Project ManagerPerform other duties as needed

Preferred Qualifications

Prefer 2 years completed toward degree with 3.0 GPAClass 5 drivers’ license and ability to commute to site on a daily basisPrevious experience working in a construction environmentWillingness to travel to Vancouver or Calgary on a monthly basisConfidence and comfort working in an outdoor construction environment during all weather conditionsConfidence working independently and using various communication tools to work with Calgary and Vancouver based professionalsAbility to read and interpret construction documents, including drawings and specificationsStrong safety awareness mindset

Required Qualifications
 Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate Engineering program Attention to detailPossess strong problem-solving and communication skills Basic Microsoft Office skills An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
