The Position:

Summit Search Group has been retained by a local Winnipeg Law Firm on the recruitment of a new Civil Litigator. Located in either Winnipeg, Morden, or Winkler, our client is looking to expand their law firm.  As a Civil Litigator, you will be responsible for managing cases from inception to resolution, including pre-litigation strategy, pleadings, discovery, trials, and appeals. You will be expected to analyze complex legal issues, draft comprehensive legal documents, and advocate effectively in court to achieve the best possible outcomes for clients. In this role, your responsibilities will include negotiating settlements, handling motions, and engaging in alternative dispute resolution processes. You will work closely with clients, maintaining clear and regular communication to ensure they understand their legal options and case status.

The successful candidate will bring a meticulous attention to detail, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to think strategically under pressure. With a strong commitment to client service, you will play a key role in building long-lasting client relationships and contributing to the overall success of the firm. Key Responsibilities:

Represent clients in all phases of civil litigation, from initial case assessment to trial and appeal. Conduct thorough legal research and draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other legal documents. Analyze case law, statutes, and regulations to develop litigation strategies tailored to client needs. Engage in discovery processes, including depositions, interrogatories, and document production. Negotiate settlements and alternative dispute resolution methods when in the best interest of the client. Present cases before judges, juries, and arbitrators, delivering compelling arguments and evidence. Collaborate with expert witnesses, investigators, and other professionals to build a strong case. Keep clients informed of case developments, providing clear explanations of legal options and outcomes.

Qualifications:

Practicing member in good standing with The Law Society of Manitoba and proficiency practicing law. 5+ years’ experience in civil litigation, with a proven track record of handling relevant case law. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present arguments clearly and persuasively in court. Proven problem-solving, logical, and deductive reasoning abilities.
