Civil/Site Development Engineer – Generation Division

Join POWER Engineers as a Civil/Site Development Engineer in the Civil, Structural, and Architectural Department of the Power Generation Division. We want to hire entry-level engineers with less than 6-years of experience so our experienced civil engineers in Idaho, New Jersey, and Kansas can mentor and develop leaders from within our organization. Help us assist multiple types of clients (Independent Power Producers, Municipal Electric Utilities, Investor-Owned Utilities) address their challenges and implement power grid systems of the future.  Get experience in a wide range of power plant technologies including biomass, municipal waste, geothermal, hydrogen, fossil fuel, carbon capture, battery energy storage, hydro, and solar.

We want to provide you with a career path to become a Lead Engineer, Technical Manager, Project Engineer, Project Manager, or Department Manager.  A major component of our design process relies on integrated 3D Modeling (Autodesk, Bentley, and Intergraph.) There is a lot of latitude for decision-making; we’re not interested in micromanaging. We expect everyone on the team to assume ownership of the project's goals and success. You will coordinate with the client, other disciplines, the permitting agencies, and contractors. Extended Field assignments are periodically available. Job Summary of Roles and Responsibilities

Help us assist multiple types of clients (Independent Power Producers, Municipal Electric Utilities, Investor-Owned Utilities, and Federal) address their challenges and implement power grid systems of the future. Other responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Gain experience in a wide range of power plant technologies including biomass, municipal waste, geothermal, hydrogen, fossil fuel, carbon capture, battery energy storage, hydro, wind, and solar Procure Updated Boundary and Topographic Surveys Perform calculations including Earthwork, storm-water quantity, storm-water quality, Wastewater, and Erosion Control Design storm-water pipe networks, detention basins, infiltration systems, lift stations, and retaining walls. Prepare flood studies, SWPPP, SPCC Plans, perimeter security improvement plans, and construction estimates Coordinate design requirements with drafters/designers. Ability to travel to project and job sites to walk down sites, interface with clients, and field verify conditions (expected travel is calculated through a fiscal year 5%-10%) Required Education/Experience Recent college graduates and/or Engineers with up to 15 years of civil engineering experience will be considered BS Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering from ABET Accredited University Basic Knowledge of AutoCAD and/or MicroStation to interface with drafters/designers Good communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, individually, and as part of a project team Ideal Education/Experience MS Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering Licensed Professional Engineer or Engineer-in-Training (EIT/FE Exam passed) Knowledge and/or ability to learn 3D modeling/analysis software (Civil3D, HydroCAD, WinSLAMM) Familiarity with power generation, transmission, and distribution projects Basic knowledge of Site Development codes and specifications Exposure to Geotechnical engineering experience
