Civil/Structural Analysis Engineer (Remote)
Johnson Service Group (JSG) is a nationally recognized professional staffing firm, and we are recruiting for an experienced Structural Analysis Engineer.

This contract role will support a cutting-edge nuclear power organization focused on advanced small modular reactor (SMR) technology. This role will play a critical part in ensuring safe, compliant, and innovative structural designs for nuclear energy applications.  This position offers the ability to work fully remote with an estimated 5-10% travel throughout the United States.

W2 Hourly Compensation:  (Commensurate with experience)
Benefits/Paid Time Off:  Not included under the terms of this contract role.
Citizenship:  U.S. Citizenship is required.
Eligibility:  Must be eligible to work under DOE 10 CFR Part 810.

Responsibilities:  Serves as subject matter expert in civil structural design and analysis. Works on highly complex tasks in multiple and diverse areas and proposes innovative design solutions requiring a significant amount of independent judgment. Works to bring advances in technical capabilities in house as deemed beneficial and strategic. Uses structural engineering tools and implements appropriate standards to design Nuclear Safety-Related and Non-Safety-Related structures including post-processing analytical results and designing structures for various material types (concrete, steel, etc.). Interfaces with licensing in support of domestic and international regulatory efforts. Interacts with other disciplines and structural engineering consultants in an effort to allow effective coordination of design activities and resolution of technical problems. Provides guidance and mentoring to other staff members in support of the team’s technical activities. Develops and reviews requirements documents, methodology documents, design reports, and studies. Routinely interacts with contractors and/or regulatory bodies. Capable of resolving technical issues, coordinating discussion with interdisciplinary stakeholders, and working with the management team to identify project impacts.  
Education / Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering is required. (Advanced degree is preferred.) A registered professional engineer license (P.E.) is strongly preferred. 12+ years of experience in the design and analysis of concrete and steel structures is required. Demonstrated proficiency in the use of ANSYS design and finite element analysis software is required.   Demonstrated proficiency working with the following codes: ASCE 43, ASCE 4, ACI 349 & 318, ASCE 7, IBC, and AISC N690. Familiarity with the Steel Construction and Seismic Design Manuals. Must have in-depth understanding of engineering concepts, principles, and theories. Strong technical writing skills as well as good communication, computer, presentation, and interpersonal skills. Exceptional organization and time management skills and ability to manage complex projects with multiple work phases is required.
