Key Roles & Responsibilities :
Working independently, the incumbent will:
Provide innovative engineering solutions for difficult problems.Assess and resolve potential conditions adverse to quality.Perform tasks in accordance with established expectations for nuclear safety and personnel safety.Requires regular walkdowns of systems to gather information to support design and analysis activities.Develop long‐range improvement plans for key plant assets requiring attention such as obsolete equipment, vulnerabilities from OE, and upgrades that would result in operational or financial benefits.Identifies and performs task as required to meet objectivesLead interpretation and analysis of complex issuesCoordinates assigned projects, studies and initiatives through completionComply with safety policy and procedures to ensure a safe working environmentPrepare and present reports including recommendations to resolve complex issuesParticipate in and on occasion lead special project and committeesLead complex problem solving efforts** Level of position will be determined by applicable skills/experience.
Required Skills, Education and Experience
Bachelors degree in Engineering (Civil/Structural preferred)Ideally 6 yrs related job experienceMust have extensive knowledge in Civil/Structural design engineering and the following areas of expertise, including building and structures inspection, dam inspection, heavy load evaluations, and rigging evaluations. Preferred to have experience with analysis of support structures and seismic qualification of equipment.PE Licensure is preferred. Need to be physically able to perform walkdowns requiring use of stairs and ladders.Qualified to assess the Building and Structures System for the plant.Qualified to prepare design changes.Qualified to prepare 10CFR50.59 screens.Proficient computer skills in standard Windows programs (Excel, Word, etc)Teamwork and collaboration skills across organizational boundariesAble to communicate complex issues effectively through written and verbal communicationAble to influence by establishing effective working relationships across organizational boundariesIn-depth understanding of power plant equipment and systemsAble to evaluate technical alternatives in light of their economic contribution to the businessAble to apply systematic problem-solving processes to address complex issuesWork Environment
Mon - Thursday 4 - 10 hr daysOccasional long, irregular hours including work in excess of 12-hour days for refueling outages and emergent plant conditionsSeldom overnight travel.Job Family
