PCG is seeking a child welfare Claims Developer.  This person will be responsible for submitting SSA’s required application forms and evidence for youth in foster care who have been identified as potentially eligible for SSI benefits.  The Claims Developer is responsible for obtaining signed forms from case planners, youth and/or parents, collecting medical & school evidence to support the disability claim, and for preparing and filing SSI claims with SSA.  The Claims Developer will be responsible for providing case development and follow up activities of pending SSI applications. They will be required to collect technical information, medical & school evidence to support applications to be filed or filed with the Social Security Administration (SSA).  The person in the role of the Claims Developer must have effective time management skills, attention to detail, ability to communicate effectively and apply critical thinking to claim development. The Claims Developer will need to understand or learn SSA’s childhood and young adult disability criteria and apply analytical thinking to claims development.  The Claims Developer will work closely with Disability Determination Services (DDS) to ensure youth attend Consultative Exams (CE).

Social Security Advocacy Management Services Overview:

Within the organization PCG has a project team dedicated to providing Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) representation and advocacy work for low-income Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) and child welfare agencies throughout the country.  This project team is referred to as our Social Security Advocacy Management Service SSAMS™ team.  The SSAMS™ team’s projects include the identification, development, application and representation of and post entitlement claims at all levels of the adjudication process including attending hearings with our clients before Administrative Law Judges and SSA post entitlement work.

Specific Responsibilities:

Follow up on requested medical, mental health, school and work records.Identify proper forms and obtain signatures on all the required forms and documentation.  Request additional information from case workers as needed.Submit medical evidence to DDS when requested.Obtain status updates from SSA and DDS.Confirm CE appointment or assist with rescheduling appointments.Refer denied claims to DEA for appeal reviews.Provide monthly reporting statistics to Supervisor.

Required Skills:    

Intermediate skills with Word, Excel. PPT, Outlook Microsoft products.Professional writing and verbal communication skillsStrong interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish working relationships with public sector agencies.Ability to recognize and maintain confidentiality of all materials in the work setting.Knowledge and understanding of SSA’s medical, mental and vocational criteria’sKnowledge and understanding of SSI,RSDI and other federal funding sources for foster youth.Ability to maintain record keeping to monitor monthly targeted goals.Ability to work independently, requiring minimal supervision.

Required Experience:

An associate degree or 2 years relevant experience. Medical and/or Human Service background preferred.

Compensation for roles at Public Consulting Group varies depending on a wide array of factors including, but not limited to, the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience. As required by applicable law, PCG provides the following reasonable range of compensation for this role: $20.14 -$25.33 . In addition, PCG provides a range of benefits for this role.
