Great American's Alternative Markets Division was formed in 1999. The division specializes in mono-line and/or multi-line primary admitted programs on either a traditional guaranteed cost (Elite Programs) or risk-sharing basis (Agency Captives & Group Captives).  Alternative Markets supports both niche programs and generalist portfolios, subject a minimum controlled rollover of $3,000,000 or more.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities

Learns to perform claims processing and payment functions on basic claims for one or more lines.  Performs claims support functions:

Composes, prepares, reviews, and responds to correspondence.

Answers and responds to inquiries and gathers information.

May perform mail/file functions.  Utilizes the company system(s) to identify the appropriate recipient of correspondence within or outside of the company.  Sorts and distributes mail.  Maintains documents according to record retention guidelines and distributes files/file systems.

Performs general processing, may include updating manuals.

Will assist with claims setup and entry, electronic imaging or indexing, statistical coverage verification, preparation/entry of claims transactions, preparation/processing recovery, and processing drafts and forms.

May perform systems functions, including determining errors/corrections on claims system(s).

Provides support to Claims department, developing specialized skills and knowledge related to processing.

Will process routine/simple transactions on customers’ accounts.  Transaction processing may be specified by authority/guidelines.

Maintains familiarity with policies and procedures, as well as the business and organization.  Complies with company and regulatory guidelines.

Updates claims files and maintains, corrects, and/or updates data using office technology.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Job RequirementsEducation: High school diploma or equivalentExperience: Generally, 2 to 4 years of related experience.
