Handle a portfolio of regional reinsurance claims and ensure adjudication complies with standard AZRE procedures and guidelines. Liaise with other functions to ensure timely and accurate claims management.
Key responsibilities
• Maintain accurate claims records for designated accounts, within appropriate AZRE Claims administration systems.
• Identify loss trends.
• Investigate and actively manage claims, including coverage determination under the relevant treaty, and evaluation of loss exposures.
• Determine appropriate reserving levels under the relevant treaty.
• Ensure all claims handled within authority limits, and in line with AZRE Claims Standards procedures and guidelines.
• Refer cases outside of authority level and prepare referral documentation and materials as appropriate.
• Support contribution of other functional areas in Claims handling process, e.g. Underwriting, CM, Reinsurance Accounting.
• Analyze claims trend on portfolios to help CM and UW to steer the business supporting profitability
• Help and support Functional contribution to Smart Circles, Deep Dives and Claims trend studies
• Support key projects and topics where required.
• Begin to develop and maintain relationships with brokers and/or clients and other relevant stakeholders (e.g. third party adjusters).
• Report and contextualize loss information internally and externally.
• Support external claims audit activities.
Required Experience:
• Basic understanding of LoB products, treaty structures, and working mechanics.
• Evidence of relationship building with brokers at peer group level.
• Basic understanding of legal and regulatory framework.
• Exposure to working in complex, global matrix organization.
Required Education:
• Preferably a degree in Actuarial Science, Economics, Law, or other appropriate disciplines.
• Progress towards professional insurance qualification (e.g. CII or ANZII).
Technical Skills:
• Products and Coverages: Understanding of relevant products, wordings, terms and conditions, and reinsurance coverages.
• Analytical and conceptual skills.
• Claims Handling: Knowledge of claims handling process from notification to settlement, and recovery.
• Reserving, reinsurance, and coinsurance : Knowledge of reserving principles and practices; robust understanding of coinsurance and reinsurance (and application thereof).
• Litigation: Basic understanding of relevant legal processes and procedures, litigation management, litigation avoidance techniques (e.g. mediation).
General Skills:
• Communication Skills: Clearly and effectively express ideas and messages verbally and/or in writing.
• Presentation Skills: Effectively express and display thoughts and ideas visually, using various tools.
